Hernandez -- Harriet Y. Hernandez, 93, a resident of Cuba since 1912, died Monday, April 17, 2000. She is survived by her son, John S. Hernandez and wife, Eleanor of Cuba, NM; grandsons, John Y. Hernandez and wife, Juanita, and George Walter Hernandez, all of Cuba; granddaughters, Ruth A. Andrus and husband, Mike of Salt Lake City, UT, and Harriet G. O¯Barr and husband, Yancy of Las Vegas, NV; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brigadier General W.R. Hernandez in 1991. Mrs. Hernandez was a longtime member of Cuba Baptist Church. She owned and operated the Youngs¯ Hotel and Bus Depot for 70 years. Cremation has taken place and graveside services will be held Friday, 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Pastor Jack Stricklan officiating. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. The family will host a memorial reception on Saturday, May 6, 2000, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Young Hotel, Cuba, NM. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
