Durham -- Howard B. Durham, 74, of McMinnville, Oregon, passed away on April 17, 2000 in Willamette Valley Medical Center. Mr. Durham was born June 8, 1925 in Rigby, Idaho, the son of Marcus and Eleanor Mae Butler Durham. He was raised and schooled in Rigby, Idaho. After high school he joined the Navy and served in WWII. He married Faye Lindsay on August 26, 1946 in Rigby, Idaho. He then moved to Richmond, CA and attended Cal-Berkley, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He then went to work for Sandia National Laboratories where he stayed until retiring after 39 years. During his employment he used his degree for testing for syzmatic activity in Albuquerque. While he was there he was involved with local politics and grass root democratic campaigns. He moved to McMinnville in 1990. He volunteered as a driver for the Red Cross and served with SHIBA for many years. He had also started working as an Ombudsman and was involved in the Yamhill County Historical Society. He enjoyed railroad history and photographing old train sites. Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Faye in 1999; and two sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Basye of Albuquerque and Laura Lockwood of Aztec, NM; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Private family services were held. Contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or Red Cross, c/o Macy & Son Funeral Directors, who handled services for Mr. Durham.
