Wesbrook -- Marie Watkins Wesbrook died September 18, 2000 in Albuquerque. She was born June 14, 1919 in Hobart, OK, the eldest child of Dr. Barton H. and Maryetta Stewart Watkins. She spent her early life in Oklahoma. She was a graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, TN and during World War II she served in the Army Nurse Corps. She married John E. Wesbrook of Aurora, IL, on June 1, 1943, at Camp Berkley in Abilene, TX. In 1946, she and her husband moved to Las Vegas, NM, and then to Albuquerque in 1947. She worked in the medical offices of Dr. Robert Trombley before and after the births of her three children, John J.B. Wesbrook, Ann Wesbrook Chaffee and David P. Wesbrook. In retirement she enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and spending time with her grandchildren. In 1992, she was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease), which she accepted gracefully and without anger, and which was the ultimate cause of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; sister; and son-in-law. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jack; three children; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and lifelong friends. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Home, 3113 Carlisle NE, Wednesday, September 20 at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Society of the Most Holy Trinity, c/o Father John McHugh, P.O. Box 536, Bosque, NM 87006. Her family wishes to thank the staff of Manor Care Camino Vista Nursing Home for their kindness and care during her final two years. Remember her in your prayers with the biblical verses Proverbs 31:25-29,"Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household, and does not eat of the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praises her,"Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all." Rest in peace. .DMP
