Dibello -- Edward Salvatore DiBello, 83, loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and friend, a recent resident of Albuquerque, formerly of the Greater Boston area, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2000. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Florence; his sons, Edward G. DiBello and wife, Christine of Albuquerque, Michael F. DiBello and wife, Catherine of Redmond, WA; and his grandchildren, Amy and Anne DiBello Albuquerque, and Scott and Ryan DiBello of Redmond, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Catherine DiBello; and his brother, George DiBello, who died in the invasion of Anzio Beach, January 28, 1944. Mr. DiBello was born March 12, 1917 in East Boston, MA. He graduated from East Boston High School, Class of 1935. As a Post Office letter carrier, he met his wife-to-be on his route. They married in Madison, WI in 1943. During WWII, he was a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps. He served in the China, Burma, and India Theater as control tower operator in support of air operations over"the Hump". His sketches, letters, and stories of India are treasured by his family. After the war, he returned to the US Post Office where he served his customers with courtesy and dignity as a letter carrier, parcel post driver, and supervisor. He retired from the Post Office in 1975 after 37 years. He also was a member of the Board of Appeals in Stoneham, MA and freely gave his time to church and civic organizations. He enjoyed his retirement as an amateur oil painter, skilled woodworker, and maker of fine clocks. He loved the seashore of his native New England, Southwestern sunsets, and moonrise over the Sandias. Most of all he loved his wife and family. He will be remembered as a fair, honest and decent man. Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 18, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel Ave. NE, with Father Antonio Mondragon, Celebrant. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, September 17, 2000, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice Inpatient Unit, Attn: Ms. Van Horn, 8100 Constitution Place NE, Suite 120, 87110, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
