Stafford -- TERRY LEE STAFFORD Black Coral Diver, Businessman SEPTEMBER 13, 1941-FEBRUARY 5, 2000Terry Lee Stafford, of Hawaii, died of a long illness Saturday afternoon, February 5, 2000, at his sister's home in Telluride. He was born in Chicago, IL on September 13, 1941, the son of James S. and Diana (Roth) Stafford. He spent his childhood, graduated from Highland High School and grew into adulthood in Albuquerque, NM. Terry continued his education at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, graduating with a degree in Business. He married Nina Cherry and they were the parents of a daughter, Fara Lee Stafford. Terry and his second wife, Deborah Lucas were the parents of a son, Travis James Stafford. He lived in Albuquerque, NM and Aspen, CO before making his home in Maui, Hawaii for 30 years where he was a black coral diver and the owner of two businesses: Kula Lime Company and Lahaina Graphics. At the time of his death he was living in Telluride, where he died at his sister's home. Terry's loves in life that brought him happiness and much pleasure were sailing, diving, surfing, skiing, and traveling the world. Survivors very grateful to have shared Terry's life are a son, Travis J. Stafford of Maui, Hawaii; one daughter, Fara Lee Stafford of Paia, Maui, Hawaii; his mother, Diana Stafford of Telluride; one brother, James S. Stafford of Albuquerque, NM; and two sisters, Vicki Farthing of Broomfield, CO and Susan Stafford Kerr of Telluride, CO. Terry was preceded in death by his father, James S. Stafford; and his younger brother, Geoffrey C. Stafford. Cremation has taken place and his family will scatter the cremains at sea at high noon in the Lahaina Harbor at Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.
