Strayer -- James W. Strayer, 77, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1991, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2000. James was born on March 5, 1923, the son of James A. and Nettie Schumaker Strayer in Burt, Iowa. He had been a bakery manager before retiring. James served in the US Coast Guard during WWII. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church. James is survived by his wife, Mary Ann of Rio Rancho; three children, Sheryl Hoth of Little Rock, AR, Patricia Clark of San Diego, CA, and Robert Strayer of Forest City, IA; one sister, Esther Farwick of Pipestone, MN; four grandchildren, Jennifer Knight, Amy Warriner, Carrie Ann Hoth and Scott Clark. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 7, 2000, 11:30 a.m., at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Military Honors will be presented by the New Mexico Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Hospice Foundation, 4725 Indian School Rd. NE, Suite 100, Albuquerque, NM 87110. Arrangements by Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho.
