Villiard -- Nelle M. Villiard, wife of Lt. Col. Maitland C. Villiard, USAF Retired, died, March 29, 2000. She was born at Blue Ridge, Illinois, a farm community 18 miles N.W. of Champaign, IL on August 6, 1913, the daughter of Ed and Stella Smith. She had three brothers and three sisters and is survived by two of the sisters, Versa Bookman of Rockford, Illinois, and Laura Jeanette Statkus of Port Charlotte, Florida, and by her husband, Col. Villiard and son M. Craig Villiard and his wife, Christine of Albuquerque. Also grandchildren, April T. Villiard of California and Alex C. Villiard of New York City. She was active in the Wives Club, the thrift shop and ladies golf during and after her husband's military service at Kirtland AFB. She was a member of Desert Rose, O.E.S. During her husband's military service they lived at many bases in the U.S. and on an island off New Guinea in the South Pacific and in the Philippines and at Mildenhall, England with the Royal Air Force. They were married on February 15, 1933, and her husband was a Private in the Army Air Corps at that time. Graveside Services will be held, Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM with Pastor Lemuel Boyles officiating. She has just made that great transition from Time to Eternity and will be missed by the many who love her. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
