Lehman -- Gladys Mae Lehman, age 80, was born November 21, 1919 and died July 24, 2000 in Albuquerque. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered by her husband of 53 years, Walter E. Lehman; son, Walter E. Lehman, Jr. and wife, Jennifer; her daughter, Marcia Larson and husband, Bill; as well as her grandchildren, Phillip, Angela and Blair. Gladys was born to Lee and Eva Baldwin in Tiffin, Ohio and raised in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from Kent State University in 1941 with a degree in education. She married Walter E. Lehman on July 13, 1947. Gladys taught English, French and elementary school during her teaching career. Walt and Gladys moved to Albuquerque in August of 1971. Church work was an important part of her life. She was active in the children's education department as well as the CWF at both High Street Christian Church in Akron, Ohio and Monte Vista Christian Church in Albuquerque. She served on the church board and was a member of the Chalice Singers. Gladys enjoyed children and often told stories and volunteered at El Encanto Day Care Center. She loved watching the excitement and happiness in children's eyes as they played and learned. Memories of her humor, kindness, faith, and zest for life will be a a comfort and joy for all who knew her. Memorial services will be held at Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place and interment will be later held in Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monte Vista Christian Church Memorial Fund.
