Brittain -- Homer E. Brittain, 86, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2000. Mr. Brittain was proud to serve 30 years for his country in both WWII and the Korean War as a Chief Warrant Officer in the US Army. Since retiring from the Military, his greatest joy had been as a Crossing Guard at Sombra Del Monte Elementary School. Each day, he enjoyed the happy faces of the students he protected as they crossed the street. During the 98-99 school year, Mr. Brittain was very honored to be the Crossing Guard of the Year. He will be greatly missed by all the lives, great and small, that he had touched. He is survived by his son, Jimmy R. Brittain and wife, Ruth of Green Cove Springs, FL; granddaughters, Pam Brittain, Gainsville, FL, Patty Wainwright and husband, Mitch, Salt Springs, FL, Peggy Brittain, Middleburg, FL and Paul Brittain, Tallahassee, FL. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2000, 2:00 p.m., at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in Mr. Brittain's name, to the Sombra Del Monte Elementary School Book and Technology Fund, 9110 Shoshone Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111, 291-6842. Cremation arrangements by the Sunrise Society of NM, 891-8200.
