Turrietta -- Mrs. Lucille S. Turrietta, 83, a resident of Albuquerque was called by our Lord on Thursday, August 24, 2000. She was born on March 24, 1918 in Magdalena, NM. She died immediately from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She joins her husband of 58 years, James G. Turrietta, who died August 25, 1995. She was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and since 1975, a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters of America, #317 and the Third Order of St. Dominic. Additionally, she was a loyal member of the Disabled American Veterans, Auxiliary. She served her church as a volunteer teacher of religious education over 25 years. An active learner who used the internet to communicate with her sons, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1998 and subsequently worked as a substitute teacher in the Albuquerque Public School system. Mrs. Turrietta is survived by her four sons, Jimmy Turrietta Jr., Major, USMC, Ret. and wife, Cecilia of Norfolk, VA, Orlando Turrietta and Caren of Oakland, CA, Anthony A. Turrietta of Albuquerque, and Johnathan Turrietta and Annette of Rio Rancho; five grandchildren, Theresa Ferguson, certified Gemologist and Gregory of Pleasanthill, CA, Derek Turrietta, Attorney at Law and Kirsten of Norfolk, VA, Analisa Turrietta, Audiologist Technician of Sacramento, CA, Daniel and Aaron Turrietta of Rio Rancho; two great-granddaughters, Anna and Elise Turrietta of Norfolk, VA; and many nieces and nephews. Your counsel will be greatly missed good and faithful servant. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Sacred Heart Church, 412 Stover SE, from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., with a Scripture Rosary to be recited at 4:00 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters. Final visitation will be Monday morning in the Sacred Heart Church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father James Moore. Entombment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Wright, Frank Turrietta, Fredrick J. Gonzales, Chris Turrietta, Daniel Turrietta, Leonard Turrietta. Honorary pallbearer will be Bob Riddle. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW, in charge of arrangements.
