Elliott -- Ruth Mable Elliott (Dean), 98, passed away Thursday and went to a better place. Ruth moved to Estancia in 1914 from Seminole, Texas and attended school in Estancia, graduating in 1922. She taught school in Estancia systems for many years. Ruth married Marion lee Elliott in 1942 and later ranched in the Estancia Valley for many years. Ruth was preceded in death by Lee Elliott. Ruth was the daughter of rancher William Paul Dean and Maggie E. Dean of Estancia. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Roy Dean, Major Dean; and sisters, Flora Mae Estes and Hazel Denham. She is survived by her sister, Pauline Nidey of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Torrance County Sheriff's Possee and the Cow Bells of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Assn. Graveside services will be in the Estancia Cemetery, Monday, August 28, 2000, at 10:00 a.m. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, are in charge of arrangements.
