Gomez -- Orlando Gomez, 71, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2000. He was the son of the late Willie M. and Fela (Sanchez) Gomez. He was a veteran who served during the Korean War and later retired from the Village of Los Lunas in 1987. Orlando enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren, as they were the apple of his eyes. During the later years of Orlando's life, he enjoyed living at his farm in Adelino. He loved the pleasures of raising his animals, driving his tractor around the farm, and visiting with neighbors, friends, and family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorraine R. Salas; one son, Dennis M. Gomez; and son-in-law, Kenneth L. Glenn in 1999. Orlando is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Matilde (Griego) Gomez of Adelino; one daughter, Brenda J. Gomez Glenn of Adelino; six grandchildren, Daniel P. Salas, Jr. and his wife, Amy; Ruby A. Gomez and her husband, Phillip Bradshaw; Jeremy N. Jaramillo and his wife Eileen; Lindsay M. and her husband, James Luna; Kirstie D. Gomez and Fernandez Baca, and Nicolas F. Rael; eleven great-grandchildren, Phillip, Felicia, Zachary, and Destiny Bradshaw; Vanessa Miller; James and Jacob Luna; Dominic Baca, Leon S. and Adrian M. Candelaria, all from Los Lunas; and Alyssa B. Salas of CA; his brothers, Willie M. Jr. and his wife, Angie of Albuquerque; Robert P. and his wife, Brenda; and Anthony R. Gomez, all of Los Lunas; his sisters, Elizabeth L. and her husband, Frank Saiz of Los Lunas; and Nellie D. and her husband, Bill Story of Canon City, CO. Orlando is also survived by one uncle, four aunts, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends. With the deepest love and respect, cremation has taken place. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2000, 6:00pm at Romero Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 10:00am at the San Clemente Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the San Clemente Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home, Belen, NM.
