Williams -- Harlan A. Williams, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Patty Eaton of Fountain Hills, AZ; sons, Pete Williams and wife, Laurie, and Joe Williams all of Albuquerque; grandsons, Geoff Eaton and wife, Shelly, of Fountain Hills, AZ, Greg Williams, Matt Williams, and Shawn Williams, all of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Jessica Eaton of Fountain Hills, AZ and Sarah Williams of Albuquerque; and great grandson, Jett Eaton of Fountain Hills, AZ. Harlan was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Williams. Our dad grew up on a farm in Daysville, Illinois. As a student he enjoyed basketball, football, sailing and fishing. In July of 1941, he enlisted in the Navy. During his 10 years of military service he served in many capacities ranging from boatswainťs mate to gunnery mate. During World War II he served on many of the great ships including the USS Brooklyn, the USS New Jersey and finally the USS Braine. While still in service he married the former Rose M. Maniscalco of Boston, MA his loving wife of 40 years. The life of operating heavy equipment and creating new roads and bridges in the southwest was the opportunity he was looking for and so he moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1957. In 1964, he became part owner and operator of Crane Service of New Mexico where he established himself as one of the finest Crane Operators in the Southwest. Upon his retirement in 1984, he took an active interest in the VFW 401 and the American Legion Post 99 where again he enjoyed the camaraderie of his Veteran brothers. He lived the last 6 years of his life at the Encino House-Midtown where he made many good friends who will miss his sense of humor and willingness to always help another. Our dad loved to laugh, loved good conversation, loved his Louis LaMour novels and his bourbon and water. He loved his family, his friends and his country and he will be missed by all of us who had the opportunity to know and love him. Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2000, at 12:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd, NE, with Rick Donaho, Officiating.
