Bort -- Ruth M. Bort, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976, passed away December 30, 2001. She was born June 26, 1917 in New York. She and her husband, James, who preceded her in death in 1995, moved to Albuquerque in 1976. They were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She had worked for General Welfare in New York, Grandy's Restaurant and Sam's Club. She was also a school nurse in Ohio. They taught ceramics at Highland Senior Center for five years, where Jim did all the firing for all the classes. Ruth was also on the Advisory Council, called Bingo and participated in most of the activities there. She is survived by her children, Richard Bort, Ralph Bort and Barbara Bort of Dayton, OH; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; niece, Christina Farmer of Albuquerque; brother, Robert Tripp of Rochester, NY; and many great nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, James, she was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Margaret Tripp; two brothers and two sisters. Visitation for Mrs. Bort will be Wednesday, January 2, 2002, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2001, 11:00 a.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 Alvarado SE, with Pastor John Heffelfinger officiating. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, where Ruth will be interred with her husband, James. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, Leukemia Society or to a Hospice of your choice. Hillcrest Funeral Home 225 San Mateo NE 265-5959
