Muench -- Cicily Marian Smith Muench, age 80, born March 25, 1921 in Dawson, NM died Sunday, February 10, 2002 from a heart attack. Cicily was a 50 year resident of Placitas, NM. She graduated from Dawson High School in 1939 and attended New Mexico Highlands University with a music scholarship, majoring in violin and was a band majorette. She was a lifetime member of Sigma Sigma Sigma, Tau Chapter, and social sorority. Her talents included music, painting and gourmet cooking. Her paintings were shown in a juried show in the Museum of NM Art Gallery. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph, who retired in 1987 from Sandia Laboratories after 40 years; daughter, Felicity A. Muench O'Beirne and husband, William of Boulder, CO; sister, Patricia Harbin of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Laramy Blohm of Hollywood, CA; son-in-law, Gary Blohm of Encino, CA; and numerous nieces ad nephews, including Lisa Harbin of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her four beloved cats. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Lucille Devlin Smith; and daughter, Linda Muench Blohm. Special thanks go to Angela Johnson of Vermont Manor and Dr. Frank Cormia, MD, for their loving care in time of need. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, 87108. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Thursday, February 14, 2002 at the Chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors. Viewing will be the same day from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 15, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Placitas Catholic Church with interment to follow at the Placitas Catholic Cemetery, Celebrant Rev. Fr. Virgil Furfaro. Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE are in charge of arrangements.
