Apodaca -- Eugenio (Gene) Apodaca, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle entered into eternal life on February 11, 2002. He was born in Trementina, NM to Santiago and Reyes Apodaca on March 20, 1925. He served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was wounded in action on Iwo Jima and received the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. Eugenio was a Barber for 26 years and also worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years. Eugenio was a parishioner of St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. Eugenio was a life member of the DA V and VFW. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; sons, Carlos R. (Anna), Armando (Paula), Miguel (Peter Doney); and daughter, Monica A. Corriz (Ralph); grandchildren, Desiree, A. Diego, Esteban, Miquela, Emilia, Sofia Apodaca and Isabella & Santiago Corriz; sisters, Juanita and Carolina Apodaca; and numerous nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; and grandson, Reyes Apodaca. Cremation has taken place. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, February 14, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church by his Brother Knights. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 15, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church with Father Jim Suntum, S.F., Celebrant. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mass offerings will be greatly appreciated or donations to the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons, A.
