Ports -- Joe M. Ports, 73, born May 15, 1928 in Crane County, Texas and formerly a resident of Albuquerque went to be with our Heavenly Father on March 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Juanita of the family home; son, John and wife, Carrie of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda & Jeremy all of Rio Rancho; daughter, Penny Ports and husband, Tom Gray of Albuquerque; brother, Charles Ports of Tacoma, WA; sister, Joy Overman of Carrollton, Texas; numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. Joe served in the United States Navy CB's and was a member of the DAV Chapter 33. Joe retired from Mountain Bell (now Qwest) with 32 years of service. He received the Theodore Newton Vail Medal Award. Joe was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks North of Paseo del Norte) with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary-Westside Chapel , 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW.
