Storey -- James (Jim) Storey, a lifelong resident of New Mexico died on Sunday, March 3, 2002, at Memorial Medical Hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was a graduate of Belen High School and New Mexico State University. He was employed by the State of New Mexico for 27 years until his retirement in 1996, when he returned to Las Cruces. Jim will be remembered for his freindly and outgoing personality. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nestor and Antonia Storey; and his brothers, Gilford and Pat Storey. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Louise Storey of the family home; two sons, Kirk Storey and wife, Karoline of Las Cruces and Craig Storey of Springer New Mexico; two daughters, Rene Shinn and husband, Art of Pueblo, Colorado and Regina Gallegos and husband, James of San Juan, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Other survivors include his brothers, Charles Storey and wife, Sylvia, of Bosque, New Mexico, and Kenneth and Anthony Storey of Belen, New Mexico; two sisters, Frances Morrow and husband, Bill, and Susan Castillo and husband, Max, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on March 7, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel at Graham Funeral Home in Las Cruces with graveside services following at Masonic Cemetary. Pallbearers will be Anthony Storey, Dennis Storey, Roy Storey, Vincent Storey, Gil Storey and Derick Castillo.
