Porter -- Mattile Keltner Porter, age 88, a resident of Hobbs, NM, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2002, in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her children, Alva L. Porter III and wife, Karen, of Ringold, GA, Jane Porter Apple of Hendersonville, NC, David Lee Porter and wife, Pam, of Hobbs, NM, Nancy Porter Benton and husband, Charles, of Albuquerque, NM; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers, Green Keltner of Ft. Myers, FL, Walter Keltner of Memphis, TN, and Goodloe Malone Keltner of Memphis, TN; sisters, Sophronia Gaither of Memphis, TN, Estelle Evans Alessi of Robards, KY, and Eleanor Evans of Memphis, TN. Mattile was preceded in death by her husband, Alva L. (Pete) Porter, Jr., daughter, Rebecca Caroline, parents, Travis Bun Keltner and Jesse Morris Keltner, brother, Travis Bun Keltner, Jr., and sister, Hazel Keltner Pease. Mattile was born in Ripley, Tennessee and was a graduate of the University of Memphis. She was the president of the United Methodist Women and served on the Board of Directors of the Landsun Methodist Retirement Home. She was also a prize winning rose grower. The family would like to extend a thank you to the extraordinary people at Marler Manor and Lovelace Hospice. Services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM, Pastor Roland McGregor officiating. Graveside services are to take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Prairie Haven Cemetery, in Hobbs, NM.
