Kraus -- Cornett Bernard "C.B." "Big Bill" Kraus joined his beloved wife of 65 years, Lillian Carolyn Kraus, in God's house Thursday, March 14, 2002 after a long illness. Uncle Bill, as he was known, resided in New Mexico most of his life after moving from his birthplace in Pecos, TX. His father's job with the railroad brought the family to Vaughn from Texas. In his teen years, Bill moved to Albuquerque were he met and married the love of his life, Lillian Carolyn McKinney. During the war they moved to Louisiana where he was in the coast guard and worked for oil refineries. In his early years he served in the Army National Guard Calvary. Bill and Lillian then moved back to Albuquerque where he became an iron worker. He was a member of Iron Workers, Local #495. Bill was an endowment member of the NRA. He is survived by his sisters Allma Souris and Gladys Wilson of Flagstaff, AZ; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Mary McKinney of Albuquerque. Bill had many nieces, nephews and good friends who will miss his kindness, his wit and most of all his wisdom. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at 2:30 p.m., at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 5301 Ponderosa Ave. NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Monday, March 18, 2002, 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Uncle Bill's name to"Share Your Care" Adult Day Care Center, 5301 Ponderosa NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
