Smith -- Wayne Edward Smith, 81, of Mountainair, NM passed away Sunday, March 17, 2002 at his home in Mountainair. He was born May 21, 1920 in DeQueen, AR to Edmond Smith and Nora Erwin. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Mountainair, NM, a cattle rancher, and a member of the Mountainair Volunteer Fire Department. He married Yvonne Anglin June 25, 1941 in Bernalillo, NM who survives him. He is also survived by three sons, Glen E. Smith of Artisia, NM, Gary R. and Jill Smith of Mountainair, Stanley Gale and Marilyn Smith of Kirtland, NM. by his daughter, Anita and Warren Granger of Mountainair, NM; by his two brothers, Lester Lloyd Smith and Bonnie of Lakewood, CO, Ray Smith and Connie of Yakima, WA and by his uncle, Coy Erwin of Tulia, TX; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Arthur"Buck" Smith. Viewing will be held at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Tuesday, March 19, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at Harris-Hanlon Mortuary Chapel in Mountainair with S. Gale Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Mountainair Cemetery in Mountainair. Pallbearers will be Jack Ray Smith, David Wayne Lewis, Joel L. Granger, Stanley Wayne Smith, Nathan Ivan Smith, Chad Gale Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are all of his grandchildren and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Harris-Hanlon Mortuary in Mountainair, NM.
