Phillips -- Harold E. Phillips, an Albuquerque resident for 61 years, died Monday, April 8, 2002. Born in Clifton, Colorado on April 15, 1917, he was raised in Palisades, Colorado and graduated from Grand Junction high school in 1936. After attending Colorado A & M, he began a career in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He married Barbara Kimmel of Grand Junction in 1938 and was assigned to the Albuquerque District of the Corps of Engineers in 1941 remaining there until retirement in 1970. Harold loved spending time outdoors working in his yard and fishing in the Colorado Mountains. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 62 years; children, Richard and wife, Sanette, of Amarillo, TX; Linda McConahy and husband Larry, of Albuquerque, Jim and wife, Pat of Farmington, NM; grandchildren, Brian and Eve McConahy of Longmont, CO, Jason and Sara McConahy of Ft. Collins, CO, Charles and Kim Phillips of Krum, TX, Jocelyn Phillips of Amarillo, TX, Leslie Armell of New York City and Julia Phillips of Farmington, NM; great-grandchildren, Scott, Laura, Anna, Nathan and Micaela McConahy and Kelsey Phillips; brother, Emory of Seattle, WA; and numerous loved cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas in 1992. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Charles E. Price officiating. Private entombment will follow the service. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 8100 Mountain Rd NE, Suite 102, 87110, the American Heart Association.
