De Jong -- Peter Donald De Jong (Don) was born April 13, 1934 to Louis P. and Gertrude (Breukelman) De Jong in Geddes, SD. On August 16, 1955 Don was united in marriage to Thelma Vander Pol from Sheldon, IA. They lived in the areas of New Holland, Sheldon, IA, Denver, Buffalo Creek, and Bailey, CO and Albuquerque. Don's Heavenly Father mercifully took him out of his misery from fighting his battle with cancer for the last seven months. He passed into Glory on Wednesday, April 10, 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Gertrude De Jong. Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Thelma of 46 years; four children and four grandchildren; son, Jeris and wife, Debie with grandsons, Jerod and fiancee, Elizabeth Hamilton and David, daughter, Twyla De Jong, sons, Loren and wife, April with granddaughter, Lauryl, son, Garry and wife, LoriAnn with granddaughter, Rhiannon; his sister, Gladys and husband, Bob Molendyk and their four children and four granddaughters; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. A Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home, 2400 Southern Blvd., Rio Rancho. Private committal and entombment will be in Vista Verde Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2002 at 12:30 p.m. at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4800 Indian School Rd. NE, Albuquerque with Pastor John Dykhuis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Don's memory to Good Samaritans Ministries of Albuquerque 4800 Indian School Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
