Chavez -- Mrs. Priscilla Chavez, 67, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 10, 2002. She was born in Placitas, NM on June 12, 1934. She is preceded in death by her parents, Desiderio and Rosita Candelaria, her daughter, Marie Chavez, and her beloved grandson, Patrick Encinias. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Eduardo Chavez Sr; her children, Rosie Encinias and Leroy, Edward Chavez Jr. and Cathy, and Robert Chavez; sisters, Adelina Gonzales and Rachel Gutierrez; grandchildren, Leroy Encinias Jr, Daniel Encinias and wife, Irene; and great-grandchildren, Brandi Encinias, Baylee Encinias and Patrick Encinias; and numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and many friends who loved her. In addition to her family, her joy in life was music. She sang alto with the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Choir for many years. She was also a member of Las Carmelitas of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Funeral Services for Mrs. Chavez will be held on Friday at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leroy Encinias Jr., Daniel Encinias, Gilbert Candelaria, Max Chavez, Angel Perez and Anthony Sena. A Rosary for Mrs. Chavez will be recited on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Arrangements by Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW.
