Wille -- Beatrice Benedicks Wille, 98, passed away on Monday, April 22, 2002. She was born December 10, 1903 in New York City, New York. She attended schools in White Plains, New York. Beatrice graduated from Wadleigh High School, attended Cornell University on a NY State Board of Regents Scholarship and received a BA degree in Classics with honors. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Society, and received a MA degree from Columbia University. Beatrice was a skilled linguist and held a teaching license in Latin, and Spanish. She taught classics at Hunter College, and was a New York City High School Teacher for more than 20 years before retiring to Rio Rancho, NM where she was active in church, political and senior center affairs. She was a member of the AAWUP and NAACP and received many honors and awards for her teaching and social activities. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church of Rio Rancho. Beatrice is survived by one son, John Wille, Jr. of Chesterfield, New Jersey; and one daughter, Clare Fisher of Berkeley, CA. The Visitation for Beatrice will be held today, Wednesday, April 24, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho with the Service on Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Rio Rancho with the Rev. Walter F. Smith III officiating. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. It has been suggested that donations be made in Beatrice's name to a charity of one's choice.
