Taichert -- Marvin H. Taichert, age 69, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 20, 2002. He was born in Las Vegas, NM on June 2, 1933 to the late Milton Taichert and Frances Estrach Taichert. He was a 1955 graduate of Harvard University with highest honors. He was a self-employed businessman and former owner of Taichert's Clothing Store on Douglas Avenue, retiring in 1990. He was founder and also served as President of the Montefiore Cemetery Association. He devoted himself to the Cemetery and organizing clean-up and other activities at the cemetery. He was a great gardener and cook. He was a very generous donor to the Harvard University, University of New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands University and to several other charities. He was a member of the Beit Tikba Synagogue. He is preceded in death by parents, Milton Taichert in 1989 and Frances Taichert in 1978. He is survived by cousins, Robert Taichert and wife, Zane of Albuquerque, Louise Taichert Feldman M.D. and husband, Sanford Feldman M.D. of Mill Valley CA, Marion Goodman and husband, Sam of Encino, CA, John Feldman and wife, Carol of Albuquerque and Hal Abrams and wife, Judy of Alabama. The family wishes to express special gratitude to Mayra Lucero, special friend and caregiver for the 15 years; his nurse and friend, Anna R. Solano; caregivers, Jessie Encinias, Josephine Lujan, Joyce LeDoux, Beatrice LeDoux, Estella Garcia, Linda Morales and Renee Aguilar. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, June 24, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 715 National Ave., Las Vegas, NM with Rabbi Leonard Helmen of Santa Fe, NM and Rabbi John Feldman of Albuquerque. Interment will follow at the Montefiore Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with the following serving as casket bearers, Robert Taichert, Michael Gregory, Ted Herberger, Lewis Terr, James Terr and Alfredo Gonzales. He will lie in state at the Rogers Chapel on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. where family and friends may call.
