Jefferson -- Robert Mosely Jefferson (Bob) went to be with the Lord on Thursday July 18, 2002. He is survived by Anne Kirby Jefferson, his beloved wife of 48 years, his son, Kirby and wife Camille of Albuquerque, son, Russell and wife Dana of Bethel, CT, and daughter, Kimberly and husband David Tomasi of Albuquerque. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tyler, Katie, Adam, and Kyle; brother, Joseph H. Jefferson, and wife Suzie; and brother-in-law, Arthur B. Kirby Jr. and wife Ginger. Bob was born in Akron, Ohio on Feb 10, 1932, to Annis Lee and Harold Jefferson. He grew up in Ft. Worth, Texas, and went Michigan Tech. After a stint in the Air Force Bob began his career at Sandia Labs, where he retired in 1986. Bob was nationally recognized as an expert in the nuclear energy and nuclear waste transportation field. He taught for many years as an adjunct professor at the University of New Mexico in the College of Engineering. Bob?s passions were teaching the Bible and serving Jesus. He was instrumental in starting Bible Study Fellowship for men in the Albuquerque area, where he taught for 14 years. He was an active leader of Hoffmantown Church, serving as a Bible Study teacher and Deacon. Bob impacted countless peoples' lives through his work in Community Bible Study, Prison Fellowship and the InnerChange Freedom Initiative, a Christian rehabilitation program for prisoners. Bob was an invited Bible teacher in a Russian seminary for 3 years. Most recently, Bob committed much of his energy to instituting Bible based curriculum in prisons in Texas, Iowa, and Kansas. Bob was totally devoted to Jesus, his family, and friends. He will be remembered for his warm sense of humor, contagious laughter and passion for life. He was recognized by all who knew him as a Bible scholar and friend. Bob was an avid fisherman, an exceptional engineer, (who built his own airplane), and a great photographer. He loved flying and always enjoyed a new challenge. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and a large part of the Christian Community; but he will live in our heart always, and his influence will be felt long after his passing. Services in celebration of his life will be held Monday, July 22, at 3:00 pm, at Hoffmantown Church, 8888 Harper NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87111, with Pastor Wayne Barber and Pastor Ken Moore officiating. Contributions may be made to The InnerChange Freedom Initiative, Community Bible Study, or Hoffmantown Baptist Church, in memory of Robert M. Jefferson. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
