Vaisa -- 01/16/1926-08/08/2002. Dora M. Vaisa, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2002 after a long illness with a stroke and being on dialysis. She was born on January 16, 1926 to Nicholas Montoya and Candelaria Lopez of Los Lentes, NM. She married her late husband, George Vaisa, when she was only 15 years old and later had eight children together. She loved to cook, sew, and make blankets prior to her stroke. She worked for the Los Lunas Schools in the cafeteria for four years, and was also a foster grandmother for two years. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, George in 1986; one son, Tommy; one grandson, Tommy Vaisa; and her brother, Nestor Montoya. Dora is survived by her loving daughter, Candelaria"Lala" Griego; and her special granddaughter, Norma, whom she loved as if she was her own daughter; her sisters, Bennie Garcia and Alfred Montoya of Los Lentes; and Mary Castillo and Henrietta Moreno, both of California. Dora is also survived by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and many dear friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. All services will be held in the Romero Funeral Home Chapel. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2002 at 5:30pm with a service following at 6:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2002 at 10:00am with Diann Newhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Sedillo Cemetery in El Cerro, NM. Pallbearers will be Adenago Perea, Gene Garcia, Alejandro Henandez, Bobby Abetya, Martin Sanchez, and Paul Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Lalo Otero and Modesto Chavez. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM 87002.
