Moyer -- Helyn K. Moyer, age 73, and a resident of Albuquerque for more than 40 years died August 22, 2002. Survivors include son, Paul Moyer of Albuquerque; sisters, Anne Ruley of Albuquerque, Sofia Kartsotis of TX; many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Helyn retired from APS in 1988 as Director of Special Education South Area Office and was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Viewing and visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 26, 2002 in the Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE, a brief Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church 308 High St. SE with Fr. Mario Giannopoulos officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. She will always be a smart, sweet, strong and very special lady; a person of intellect who made anyone close to her and many others feel at home. Accordingly, her son asks that in lieu of flowers donations be in Helyn's memory to the APS Title One Homeless Project, which helps provide education and learning materials for Albuquerque's homeless kids.
