Shuford -- Patty Newell Shuford, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, August 25, 2002 after a short battle with cancer, at home with her loved ones by her side. A native of El Paso, Texas, she is survived by her husband, David Marcus Shuford, Sr.. David shared his life and love with her for nearly 50 years. They were married on April Fool�s Day 1953 after only knowing each other for six months. She is also survived by her mother, Patty Dell Newell; her son, David Marcus Shuford, Jr., his wife Karen, and their three daughters, Stephanie Campbell and her husband Tim, Amy Shuford and Kelli Shuford; her daughter, Claire Newell Shuford; and her daughter, Leslie Diane Gartner and her husband, Ed, and their daughter, Jessica Gartner. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard Lewis Newell. Patty was the keeper of the family home and loved it when it was filled with her family. Her precious grandchildren were the light of her life. She drew joy and strength from music of all kinds, her favorites were classical, opera, and mariachi music. Services will be held Saturday, August 31, 2002, at 3:00 p.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.� Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Friday, August 30, 2002, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
