Montoya -- Filemon A. Montoya, 72, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2002 in Socorro, NM. He was born May 11, 1930 to Petrita and Ramon Montoya in Socorro, NM. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was retired from the NM National Guard. He was the former owner of the Rathskeller Lounge and Phil's W. He was a devoted employee of the Socorro Senior Center where he brought much happiness, even if it meant breaking a few rules. Phil knew the art of storytelling and told wonderful jokes. He loved to be around people and people loved to be around him. He was quite an entertainer. Phil loved his family, both immediate and extended. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Philip; siblings, George, Leandro and Betty; and son-in-law, Danny Shields. He is survived by his daughters, Ann Leviner and husband, Jim of Socorro, Bernadette Gonzales and husband, Raymond of Las Cruces, NM, wife, Isabel of Socorro; life partner, Linda Perdue of Socorro; brothers, Herman and wife, Cecilia, Joey and wife, Diana and Able and wife, Dolores; sisters, Emily Mathieu and husband, Dave, Judy Silva, Rosie Garcia and husband, Frank; grandchildren, Stephen Apodaca, Sara-Brianna Shields and fiance, Simon Ocampo, Sean Apodaca and Genesis Leviner. Rosary was recited on Friday, August 30, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father John Daniel as Celebrant. Interment will be in the San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearers are Raymond Gonzales, Jim Leviner, Stephen Apodaca, Sean Apodaca, Adrian Landavazo and Raymond Romero. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Phil's nephews.
