Allen -- Betty Ruth Allen, age 87, and an Albuquerque resident passed away at sea November 10, 2002. Betty was born in New York City on October 24, 1915 to the late Alexander and Beckie Allen. Survivors include her daughters, Tara Sue Allen of Albuquerque, NM, and Gail R. Springer and husband, Peter of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Dr. Alexander Granok and wife, April of Manchester, NH, Dr. Howard Granok of St. Louis, MO, and Jillian Rae Springer of Santa Fe; great-grandchild, Eadric Granok; also many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Allen. She was a member of Congregation B'Nai Israel since 1951 and a life member of Hadassah and B'Nai Brith women, and a member of the sisterhood. Betty enjoyed playing bridge, fishing for trout in Northern NM and traveling. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2002 at Fairview Memorial Park 700 Yale Blvd SE with Rabbi Arthur Flicker and Cantor Michael Dzubin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the public library of your choice. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, is entrusted to Betty's care.
