Bivens -- Harry Allen Bivens, 62, of Amarillo died, Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 7:13 a.m. Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2002 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 3500 Bowie, with Pastor Charles Meyers officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors. Mr. Bivens was born in Seiling, Oklahoma on December 27, 1939 to Harry Samuel Bivens and Grace Allan Bivens. He graduated from Seiling High School in 1957. He later graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University School of Pharmacy in 1962. In May of 1973, he also received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Hospital Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. Mr. Bivens served in the Public Health Service for many years. He had worked at St. Francis Hospital Pharmacy in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was also employed with the Veteran's Administration for over 20 years, retiring in April 1994. He served at the Veteran's Hospitals in Albuquerque and Amarillo. He was currently employed with Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital Pharmacy since October 1994. He married Dorothy Rodgers in December of 1968 in Tulsa, OK. He was a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, The American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, and the Golden Spread Fly-Fishers Club. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; mother, Grace Allan Bivens; two sons, Douglas Allan Bivens and wife, Angie and Christopher Michael Bivens and wife, Krista, all of Amarillo; one brother, Paul Bivens and wife, Elmonette of Clarendon; three grandchildren, Cory Allan, Aaryn Dawn, and Zachary Michael Bivens, all of Amarillo; nephews, Stephen Paul Bivens and wife, Katrina and Scott Allan Bivens; and numerous other family members and friends. Memorials may be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Family Center.
