Ulibarri -- Jimmy Joe Ulibarri, age 54, passed away suddenly on December 20, 2001. Jimmy was born October 8, 1947 in Clovis, NM to the home of Jose F. and Ramona Salas Ulibarri. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. After high school, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Air Force as an AirFrame Repair Specialist. He served in Germany and in Viet Nam. Jimmy married Delia Ortega on January 31, 1971 in Santa Rosa. He worked for the New Mexico State Parks in Santa Rosa for several years, White Sands Missile Range, Truckstops of America, served in the New Mexico National Guard for over 20 years and was recently working for the City of Santa Rosa and ENMRSH. Jimmy was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the VFW Post 11338 where he served as Commander and Quarter Master. Jimmy loved deer hunting, gardening, his chickens and his cat Poopsie. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to help out anyone in any way he could. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle and will be truly missed by all his family and countless friends. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Jose Ulibarri; and two nieces, Joan and Jenna Estrada. Survivors include his wife, Delia of the family home in Santa Rosa; his three daughters, Jessica Ulibarri of Santa Rosa, Jennifer Saiz and husband, Ted of Santa Rosa and Joyce Ulibarri of Albuquerque; his grandchildren which he cherished, Dominic Joe, Derrick, Noah and Dannica; his mother, Ramona Ulibarri of Santa Rosa; his brother, Nick Ulibarri and wife, Trancy of Albuquerque; his sisters, Sophie Griego and husband, Pablo of Santa Rosa, Julia Ulibarri of Santa Rosa; his mother-in-law, Mela Perea of Santa Rosa; and a special nephew, Chris Griego of Santa Rosa. Rosary services will be conducted on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Rose Church with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with full military honors provided by Cannon Air Force. Serving as Pallbearers will be Pat Swaggart, Chris Griego, Dominic Joe Saiz, Victor Anaya, Richard Gomez, Tudy Romero, Tudy Sanchez, George Rivera, Richard Perea and Pablo Griego. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Ted Saiz, Randy Saiz, Freddy Lujan, Andy Zamora, Chemo Arrellin, Steven E. Griego, Steven D. Griego, Bruce Lopez and Edward J. Salazar. All services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South 3rd St., Santa Rosa, NM (505) 472-3369.
