Sabo -- Denes (Dan) Sabo, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on Sunday, March 11, 2001 surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Betty; five children and their families, which include fourteen grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister; a brother; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Veteran of World War II, Dan served as an officer in the United States Army Air Corp of Engineers. He moved to New Mexico in 1953. Licensed in the state of New Mexico and a longtime member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, he spent his professional life working for the Council of Governments, New Mexico State Highway Department and Albuquerque Metropolitan Flood Control Authority. He was recognized for his tireless efforts as a volunteer for a number of local charities including the Albuquerque Museum Foundation and St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation. A Memorial Service will take place in the Albuquerque Museum Sculpture Garden on Monday, March 19, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions made to the Albuquerque Museum Foundation, PO Box 7006, Albuquerque, NM 87194-7006 or St. Joseph Healthcare Foundation, PO Box 25555, Albuquerque, NM 87125 would be deeply appreciated. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Delta Hospice for their loving care and support.
