Everett L. Westfahl, 69, of Albuquerque passed away peacefully in his sleep at 12:35 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2001 at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital Hospice Unit in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a five-year battle with prostate cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Ruby Westfahl and his older brother Paul Westfahl all of Haven, KS; and his third and fourth wives, Sandra Stepleton and Chris McCrea Westfahl of Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his oldest brother Fred Westfahl and his wife, Ronnie of Kinsley, KS, their children Kathy Rishel, Randy Westfahl, Rock Westfahl and their spouses and children; his sister-in-law Mary Ann Westfahl of Haven, KS and her children Kenny Westfahl, Peggy Thompson, Arlene Bontrager, and Diane Goldberg and their spouses and children; his first and second wives, Marilyn J. Peirce of Hutchinson, KS and Nancy H. Thoman of Seminole, FL; his daughter Ann Kroll and her husband Paul of Albuquerque, NM; and his step children, Pam Gross and her husband Steve and their children Nesbit, MS, Chuck McCrea, his children and his wife, Shelley, Mark McCrea and his wife Alice and their children; and Marc Salter and his wife Shanna, all of Albuquerque, NM. Everett Westfahl was born in Hutchinson, KS on January 28, 1932 and he grew up on the Westfahl family farm near Haven, Kansas. He graduated from Haven High School in 1950. He attended Hutchinson Junior College and Kansas State University, graduating from Kansas State University in 1955 with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. He accepted a position on the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories in 1955. He left Sandia National Laboratories in 1973 and became an Electronic Sales Representative with Barnhill and Associates in 1973, before joining Aztec Enterprises in 1974. He later formed his owned electronic sales organization, Westfahl and Associates in 1985. He retired from full time sales at Westfahl and Associates in 1995. He enjoyed many years of serving his numerous customers throughout the states of New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. He also enjoyed serving four years as president of the ISE, which conducted annual electronic trade shows in Albuquerque. A memorial service for Everett Westfahl will be held on Monday, July 2, 2001 at 3:00p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. N.E., with Pastor Dale Bauer, Dr. Ralph Friedenberg, and Dave Smoker, officiating. Private interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd N.E. Guests will be received at the home of Chuck and Shelley McCrea after the memorial service. We would like to thank the numerous doctors and nurses who provided Everett with dedicated and quality care, including Doctors Ralph Friedenberg, Neil Kaminsky, Richard Giudice, Amanda Story, Clifford Evans, Jonathan Lackner, William Thompson, Jr., and Paul Anthony. We would also like to thank his Prostate Cancer Support Group at Bear Canyon Senior Center, especially Lyle Ware. Everett would like to say a special thank you to his friends Bob and Betty Rader, Bob Rader, Jr., Noel Gantick, Dorothy and Paul Johnson of Seattle, WA, and his former Sandia co-workers, Ed and Shirley Jacobs, and Bill and Leora Riggan for their support and encouragement. His daughter Ann and her husband Paul would especially like to thank Nancy Thoman, Merle Anderson, and Dorothy Kassa for their loving support and care of Dad during his long illness.
