Welch -- Sabrina Elizabeth Reddig Welch. Our dearly beloved Sabrina passed away on Friday, June 22, 2001 surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her beloved husband, Winston; her father, Ed Reddig; her mother-in-law, Barbara and her husband, Bill Dreger; sisters-in-law, Kim Welch and Kris Armstrong and husband, Matt; nieces, Shelby Joy Welch and Amanda, Nikki and Jessica Armstrong; several aunts and uncles; and so many beloved friends around the world. Born in Athens, Greece on December 29, 1961, Sabrina grew up in Albuquerque where she attended the University of New Mexico and received her BA and MA in teaching. Sabrina loved her profession, and it allowed her to touch the lives of many young minds and hearts in the U.S. and abroad. She met her husband Winston in 1984 at UNM, and then they proceeded to have an extraordinary life of love and companionship. Sabrina spent the last 12 years living in Kyoto, Japan as a professor of global issues at several universities. She and Winston traveled extensively, visiting over 50 countries and relishing the opportunities to discover and connect with many people and enjoyed having friends gather at their rural home in the beautiful Japanese countryside. During the past year, Sabrina courageously battled many ailments without complaint and was cared for by many kind, caring and compassionate people at UWMC and Balley-Boushay House. Sabrina was an incredibly beautiful and generous person whose love and kindness will never be forgotten. Her presence honored both the world and her loved ones. Sabrina's love, compassion and accepting nature made her a gentle angel to her many friends who were privileged to have known her. Her love of life, cheerfulness and great warmth touched so many lives in such a beautiful and positive way. Sabrina will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her laughter which filled our souls with happiness and love. She will be so greatly missed.
