Garcia -- Manuela "Mela" L. Garcia, 86, died Thursday, June 28, 2001 at her home in Socorro, NM. She was born February 25, 1915 to Jose T. and Luz (Apodaca) Lopez in Lemitar, NM. She is preceded in death by her husband, Florentino in 1998; a son, Jose T. Garcia; a daughter, Lola Gurule; and sisters, Maria Baca and Margarita Prescott. She is survived by her son, Florentino E. Garcia and wife, Joanne of Mansfield, TX; daughter, Anita Montoya and husband, Clarence of Socorro; brother, Jose M. Lopez of San Francisco, CA; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, June 29, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Steadman-Hall Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited on Friday, June 29, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 30, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Edward Domme as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Lemitar Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gabriel Baca, Trinidad Baca, Jose I. Valenzuela, Paul Montoya, Felipe Gonzales and John Michael Gurule. Honorary Pallbearers are Clarence G. Montoya, Tano Pacheco and Joe V. Baca.
