Duran -- Paul A. Duran, age 62, passed away October 5, 2001 at his home in Vaughn following extended illness. Paul was born March 23, 1939 in Vaughn, NM to the home of Pedro and Maria Montoya Duran. He was reared and attended schools in Vaughn. Paul married Sally Arguello on December 24, 1959 in Vaughn. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 20 years retiring due to health reasons. Paul was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, he loved all kinds of sports, shooting his bow and arrow, and carpentry. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Sally Duran of the family home in Vaughn; his daughter Lucarol Apodaca and husband Sam of Vaughn; his son Paul Raymond Duran of Vaughn; his grandchildren Samuel Apodaca, Alonzo Apodaca and Nicloe Rael. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters Irene Luna of Amarillo, TX Arsenio Duran of Vaughn, Clara Stewart of Oklahoma, Tony Duran of Alamogordo, NM, Patsy Duran of Amarillo, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be conducted on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. from St. Mary Church in Vaughn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday morning at 10:00 also from St. Mary's Church with Father John Jasinski officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn. Serving as Pallbearers are Samuel Apodaca, Ray Arguello, Leandro Sanchez, Tony Duran, Evy Duran and Phillip Luna.
