Adelino -- Andres Adelino (Griego) Telles, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950 passed away on June 1, 2001 after a brief illness. His wife of 50 years, Senaida (Velasquez) Telles, preceded him in death on June 5, 1991. He is survived by nine children, sons, John and wife Debbie of Harker Heights, TX, Erminio of Herndon, VA, Robert and wife Armandina, Edwin and wife Lisa, and Randal of Albuquerque; daughters, Erlinda and husband Richard Durant, Edna and husband James Martinez of Albuquerque, Onesima and husband Bob Lippincott of Bloomfield, NM and Helen and husband Charles Kappus of Albuquerque. Mr. Telles was the patriarch of a proud, successful family which included 22 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 4 step-grandchildren. As a young child Petra Baca, Adelino's grandmother, moved from Ojo Caliente, (near San Juan Pueblo) to Contreras, NM. Adelino Telles was born August 9, 1915 to Juan Telles and Ignacita Griego in Punta de Agua, NM. Adelino grew up in Contreras after his mother's death in 1922. He left school at the age of 15 to support his grandmother and three siblings. He spent his early life sheep herding and working on ranches in and around the Manzano Mountain area where he met Senaida his wife and they started their family. After coming to Albuquerque, he worked as a plumber for several construction companies. He retired in 1979 as a member of the Laborers Local Union 16. He was a life long member of the Catholic Church and a devoted member of Holy Family Church. Rosary will be recited Monday, 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco Drive SW. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert Ivan Telles, James Velasquez, Paul Velasquez, Andre Telles, Vincente Telles and Matthew Kappus. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. French Mortuary - Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course NW.
