Januskiewicz -- Joe A. Januskiewicz (Janski) died Friday, April 6, 2001,at the age of 63 after battling cancer for a year. Born in Warren, Rhode Island on March 12,1938, he was the son of the late Thomas C. and Simone M. Januskiewicz. He joined the Air Force in 1956 and was stationed in Biloxi, MS, and later in New Mexico where he spent most of his life. He'd also lived in California briefly. Most recently, he'd spent a number of years in Texas, but returned to Albuquerque in October of 2000 to be with his children. He was self-employed in retail for most of his life, loved to travel and had seen almost the entire U.S. Joe also loved the mountains, wildlife, and fishing. His many hobbies included trains, weightlifting, and a great interest in U.S. history, especially the old west and Civil War eras. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Marcel Januskiewicz, and is survived by his son, Joseph T., and daughter, Andrea A., and her fiancé, Paul Pressley; as well as very close friends, Phillip D. and Jacqueline R. Mascarenas, all of Albuquerque; and his beloved German shepherd, Chacotah. Family members in Rhode Island include sisters, Jeanine and husband, Emilio Squillante, Denise and husband, Bill Coyne, and Janet Viscione; and brother, Paul Januskiewicz and wife, Liz; as well as brother, Del Januskiewicz and wife, Gail of Maine. The family wishes to extend warmest gratitude and love to Sandia Hospice, especially to Sandy, Mark, and Barbara. Sincerest thanks also to Laurel View Nursing Home. Cremation has taken place. Services were officiated by Father Ronald Bruckner of Our Lady of Annunciation Church, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW.
