Borrowdale -- Florence "Flo" Borrowdale, a resident of Belen, passed away due to her failing health on Friday, April 27, at the age of 85. She was born on August 11, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois and in 1946 she moved with her family to the Army Courts in Belen. Flo and her late husband, Hank, founded the Belen Bottling Company"Hub City Pop" in 1961. Later Flo began her banking career at the Belen National Bank and subsequently became Vice-President of Belen Savings and Loan, retiring after 35 years of service. Flo was an excellent cook and hostess to her many family and friends. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed a challenging game against her husband and sons. She also enjoyed playing cards, swimming, golf, and dancing to the Big Band Music with her husband. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Henry Borrowdale; her parents; one brother; and three sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Larry and wife, Judy; Jim and wife, Vicky, both of Albuquerque; one sister, Rita Mints and her husband, Charlie of Chicago; four grandchildren, Helley Butches of Colorado; Steve Borrowdale; Linda Mitchell and husband, Dale; Chrissy Borrowdale, all of Albuquerque; five great-grandchildren; and her many loving nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place at the request of the deceased. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church with Interment following at Terrace Grove Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home, Belen, NM
