Martinez -- Jose (Cho-Cho) Isauro Martinez Jr., 61, a lifelong Santa Rosa resident, died Thursday, March 9, 2000 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Martinez was born June 30, 1938 in Cuervo, NM. He attended school at Santa Rosa. Cho-Cho worked for the NM State Highway Department for two years. He was employed for the past 38 years with the Peneldton Gas Company in Santa Rosa. He married Linda R. Maes on November 19, 1986. He was a collector of Classic Cars and antique bottles. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Isauro Martinez Sr. on November 3, 1990; and a nephew, Jerry Ulibarri on July 6, 1994. Survivors include his wife, Linda R. Maes; his mother, Valeria Martinez of Santa Rosa; two sisters, Viola and husband, Manual Ulibarri of Santa Rosa, Shirley and husband, Faustin Sena of Edgewood; brothers, Horacio (Lacho) and wife, Dina Martinez of Santa Fe, Tommy and wife, Candy Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO, Pat and wife, Renida of Albuquerque, Anthony Martinez of Santa Rosa; step-children, Brenda Encinias and husband, Jeff, Bill and wife, Joel Johnson of Santa Rosa, Melvin and wife, Esther Johnson of Corona; grandchildren, Nina and Martha Encinias, Billy Jack, Crystal, and Curtis Johnson, James, Marcus, Melissa and Monique Johnson. Also surviving are his Godchildren, Nina Encinias, Joseph Martinez; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2000, from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. A second Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12, from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the church at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2000, with Father Sotero A. Sena, Celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will include Pat Martinez, Horacio Martinez, Tom Martinez, Melvin Johnson, Bill Johnson, Jeff Encinias, and Anthony Martinez. Honorary bearers will include Horacio Chavez, Joe Bob Page, Simon Serrano, Kirk Peneldton, Dennis Gallegos, and all his friends and relatives. Navarro -- Emilia V. Navarro, a resident of Albuquerque for 60 years, died Friday, March 10, 2000, on her 97th birthday. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and many close friends who will greatly miss her love and generosity. Emilia was preceded in death by her husband, J.J. Navarro in 1986. She was a member of Ascension Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 12, 2000, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. A Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2000, in the Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Olguin -- 1925-2000 Former County Commissioner Albert Olguin of Peralta and a longtime resident of Valencia County began a new journey on March 10, 2000. He was born on December 9, 1925 and preceded in death by his brothers, Eugenio and Fidel Olguin. Albert is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Olguin of the family home in Peralta; eight children, Ronald and wife, Patsy, Carl and wife, Anna and Robert and wife, Maxine, all of Peralta, Debbie and husband, Norbert Gabaldon of Albuquerque, Bryan and wife, Gabby of Peralta, Karon and husband, Paul Viramontes of Farmington, Renee and husband, Billy Bouma, and David Olguin, all of Albuquerque; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He devoted his energy and persevered to improve the quality of life for people in Valencia County through his philanthropic efforts and civic duties at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, over 20 years at Peralta Elementary's Halloween carnival, the community action program, and as a Little League coach. He was a veteran of the Korean War. His spiritual energy will remain with family and members of the community to continue his promotion for change and personal growth, his family wrote. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ernest Olguin, Robert Olguin Jr., Norbert Gabaldon Jr., Mark Olguin, Matt Olguin, Paul Ricco Gabaldon. Viewing will be held at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Monday, March 13, at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Richards -- Kent Richards, 58, passed away suddenly in Tucson, Arizona on Thursday, March 9, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Peggy; sons, Troy (Katarina) Richards and Trace (Monica, grandchildren, Vanessa and Eric) Richards of Tucson; daughter, Tara Richards of Dallas; parents, Rick and Berna Richards of Albuquerque; sister, Janet (Ron, niece, Tamara and nephew, Trevin) Janser of Albuquerque; mother-in-law, Dorothy Donato of Bullhead City, AZ; and brother-in-law, Carl (Nancy) Donato of Scottsdale, AZ; as well as numerous other relatives. Retired since 1996, Kent and Peggy traveled in a RV searching for golf sites and spending their extra time in Angel Fire and Tucson. He impacted many children in Albuquerque through his involvement with sports, including YAFL and Roadrunner Little League. This"gentle-giant" spread love and generosity to his grandchildren and family for years. Kent will remain an inspiration to his family and friends, and will be loved and missed forever. Kent was cremated in Tucson and memorial services will be held at Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 8600 Academy NE, in Albuquerque, on Wednesday, March 15, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. At the families' request, all memorial donations may be made in Kent's name to the Arizona's Children Foundation, 2700 S. 8th Street, Tucson, AZ 85713.

Tricoli -- Jim Tricoli, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1972, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000 at home after a battle with cancer. He was born on April 9, 1926 in Buffalo, NY to Raymond and Anna (Amico) Tricoli. He is survived by his wife, Marlene Anderson Tricoli of Albuquerque; daughter, Joanne Blackwell of Phoenix, AZ; sons, Robert and Michael Tricoli, both of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Bess Lonzi and husband, Albert, Jo DeLozier and husband, Bill, and Camille Jeris, all of Buffalo, NY; brother, Paul Tricoli of Santa Fe, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Tricoli; and sister, Rose Silvestro. Mr. Tricoli retired after 24 years from Communications Workers of America Union. He was employed for 19 years by Western Electric Co. in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Tricoli served in United State Marine Corps. during WWII at the Battle of Iwo Jima and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Vertrees -- Sylvia I. Vertrees, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983 and formerly of Bentonville, AR, died Thursday, March 9, 2000. She is survived by her son, Charles Vertrees and wife, Julia of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Julia Vertrees and husband, Greg Toney of San Antonio, TX, Charles Vertrees and Jan Fitcha of Tustin, CA, Patricia Espinosa and husband, Gilbert of Clayton, CA, Joseph Vertrees and wife, Janet of Cedar Crest, and Sylvia Crain and husband, Jim of Santa Fe; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Vertrees was preceded in death by her husband, Charles X. Vertrees; and son, Donald W. Vertrees. Mrs. Vertrees was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Spiro Chapter of the Eastern Star in Spiro, OK. Mrs. Vertrees was also a member of the Palo Duro Senior Center where she sang with the Choraleers. Wright-Gonzalez -- Gaynell Lynette Wright-Gonzalez, 40, a resident of Aurora, CA, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2000. She was preceded in death by her father, Sargent Billy F. Wright; and her grandparents, Betty and Clarence Fisher. Gaynell is survived by her husband, Ricardo; her two children, Janae' and Regena Williams; her mother, Bettie Jean Wright of Belen; her brothers and sisters, Richard Fisher of Albuquerque, Billy F. Wright and his wife, Kim of Yakima, WA, Dylan D. Wright, Kevin F. Wright, Beverly Jenkins and her husband, Dwain, and Veda Wright, all of Anchorage, AK. Carrillo -- Isabel L. Carrillo died in Albuquerque at the age of 36. Isabel is survived by her father, Arnold Carrillo; mother, Lucille Carrillo; son, Joseph Carrillo; daughter, Mary Carrillo; brother, Teddy Carrillo; and grandson, Jose Carrillo. Funeral services for Isabel will be held on Saturday at the Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Algodones Cemetery.
