Shipe -- Francis Shipe, 84, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001 in her home in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jimmy Weddington. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Ochterbeck and husband, John of Las Vegas, NM; four grandchildren, Karen Lacey of Santa Fe, Linda Spiess of Albuquerque, David Spiess and wife, Janine of Albuquerque and Jay Ochterbeck and wife, Cynthia of Clemson, SC. She was very proud of her great-grandchildren, Rachel and Grant Lacey and Jayme Spiess. She was especially fond of cousins, Jeannine and Hap Maxwell and Jack and Feliz Fields. Francis moved to Albuquerque in 1990 after retiring from a career she adored as Director of Publication at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. During the 1950s, she lived in Las Vegas, NM. Francis had an alert and active mind until the very end of her life. She will be remembered and missed by her family and many friends. A Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the First Methodist Church in Las Vegas, NM with Rev. Mike Stahl officiating. Chavez -- Linda Ann Chavez, 54, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, died Monday, July 23, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Chavez, Jr. of Cubero, New Mexico; daughters, Diane Garcia and Tina Torivio and husband, Elden, both of Casa Blanca; stepson, Jacob Chavez and wife, Melba of Abilene, TX; granddaughter, Ray Ann Garcia of Casa Blanca; grandsons, Michael Ray and Carlos Garcia, both of Casa Blanca and Xavier Chavez of Abilene, TX; mother, Daisy Chavez of Albuquerque; sisters, Cynthia Armijo and husband, Steve Griego and Lisa Jaramillo and husband, Max, both of Albuquerque, Laura Chavez and husband, Joe of Santa Fe, Pernetty Salazar and husband, Hector of Bibo, NM, Joy Trujillo and husband, Candido of Ponderosa and Vicki Rodriquez of Gilbert, AZ; brothers, Donald Chavez and wife, Mary Ann of Salt Lake City, UT, Joe Chavez and wife, Frances of Pecos, NM, Oscar Chavez and wife, Jo Ann and Patrick Chavez and wife, Valerie, all of Albuquerque. Mass will be celebrated Friday, 1:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Light in Cubero, with Father Larry Bernard, O.F.M., Celebrant. Interment will follow at Cubero Cemetery. Cordova -- Rosita Cordova, 89, a lifelong resident of Los Chavez, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at an Albuquerque hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Los Chavez. Rosita was an avid gardener and was well-known for her hand-tied ristras that hung every harvest all around her home and porch. She was everybody's friend and never knew a stranger. No one came to visit Rosita without being fed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Espiridion in 1980; her three grandsons, Freddie in 1973, Benjie in 1991, and Allen in 1996. Rosita was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Rose is survived by her five children, Erlindo and his wife, Stella (who is considered to be one of her daughters) of Los Chavez, Austin of Las Vegas, NV, Dorothy Cordova of Albuquerque, Leroy and Ernest of Los Chavez; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nick Salaz and his wife, Stella, and Eloy Salaz and his wife, Genevive, both of Gallup. Rosita is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Thursday, 5:30 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 10:00 a.m. with Interment following in the Parish Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Duran -- Hope G. Duran, 79, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, July 22, 2001. She is survived by her son, Robert Teller and wife, Robin; grandson, Stephen Teller; granddaughter, Ellesse Teller, all of Los Alamos; sisters, Ramona Montoya, Lucy Garcia, Dora Apodaca and husband, Phillip and Jill Ruble, all of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Duran. Hope retired from the Albuquerque Police Department in 1984 as a finger print supervisor. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 300 Mildred NW, with Father James J. Suntum, S.F., Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park. Gallegos -- Dick A. Gallegos, 79, died Monday, July 23, 2001 at his home in Socorro, NM. He was born August 26, 1921 to Andres and Libradita (Gonzales) Gallegos in Tokay, NM. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Viola Gallegos; brothers, Santiago, Tony, Andres Jr. and Johnny; and sister, Pauline Garcia. Gantz -- Jane B. Gantz, 79, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away on July 17, 2001. She was a graduate of the Indiana University as a Kappa Alpha Theta and an active member in Albuquerque for several years. She was involved in the development of the Hunter and Jumper Association in New Mexico. While living in Scottsdale, Arizona, she became very proficient in computers, setting up programs for several companies. She was on the Building Committee for the Mountain View Presbyterian Church in Scottsdale and served as Recording Secretary for many years. Unfortunately, Jane's life changed in 1992 due to Alzheimers making its appearance known. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Hartman and her late husband, Cleo S. Maddox in 1949. Jane is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Merlin C. Gantz of Belen; two sons, James Maddox of Albuquerque and Blake Maddox of Phoenix, Arizona; and one daughter, Susie Maddox-Hartman of Scottsdale, Arizona; two adopted grandchildren, Bobbie Deamon and David Hartman; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Belen with Pastor Ed Wicklein officiating. Internment will take place at a later date in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Healy -- Marie Jeanne Healy, age 81, died Monday July 23, 2001. She is survived by her sons, Michael Healy of Albuquerque, Kevin Healy of Colorado, Brian Healy of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Adele and Kathryn Healy of Illinois, and Brendon and Nicole Healy of Colorado. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Brendon Healy in 1988 and her son, Dennis Healy in 1999. Mrs. Healy worked as a Registered Nurse in Public Health for over 50 years. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday July 26, 2001 11:00 a.m. at Aspen Funeral Alternatives Chapel, 1935 Juan Tabo NE. Locke -- David W. Locke, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Monday, July 23, 2001. Macdonald -- Allen Keith MacDonald, Jr., 56, rose up to Heaven on July 23, 2001. He was born October 15, 1944 in Callaway, Nebraska to Mary Joyce Massie-MacDonald and his father, Allen Keith MacDonald, Sr. He was a 18 year resident of Albuquerque. Allen loved life and his family to the fullest. He was a parishioner at St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, he was a great supporter of the United Way & the Special Olympics. He loved the City of Albuquerque and the many people who passed through the Supermarkets that he managed over the many years with Safeway & Furrs. He loved to spend all of his spare time with his family whom he loved very much. Allen was from Denver, Colorado in the suburb of Lakewood. Allen received his bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and was a great supporter of the C.U. Buffalo's football team. He was a diehard Bronco football sports fan and an avid sponsor of the UNM Lobos Allen Honorally served in the U.S. Army from November 1965 to August 1968 with the 527th Military Intelligence Company/66th Military Intelligence Group in Washington, D.C. and in Germany. Allen was awarded the Army Commendation Medal during his military service. He graduated from the Berlitz School of Language in Washington D.C. where he studied German. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla MacDonald of the family home; three daughters, Michelle and Sonia MacDonald of the family home and Alexandra MacDonald of Las Cruces; son, Douglas MacDonald and wife, Claudine of Edmonds, WA; father, Allen K. MacDonald, Sr. of Lakewood, CO; sister, Janet Zajac-Spade of Woodland Park, CO; step-daughter, Carmen Morales; step-son, George Morales and wife, Monica, all of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Jared and Maija Morales; and 21 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Joyce MacDonald. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, 5901 St. Joseph Dr. NW. Martinez -- Mr. Ruben R. Martinez passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2001 at a local hospital with his loving children at his bedside. Ruben was born in Pharr, Texas on February 11, 1923. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sadie Naranjo Martinez and brother Arthur Martinez. He served in WWII under Gen. Patton and he was a purple heart veteran having served in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a combat engineer serving in 5 military campaigns. He owned and operated his own Auto Body Business in the Albuquerque area for over 50 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman with a passion for the Jemez River and mountains where he grew up. He had tremendous faith and was a life long member of the Catholic Church. He had a special love for his family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a generous, compassionate father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Wright and husband, Raymond Sr., Karen Aceves and husband, Henry, Laura Martinez and Lorraine Martinez; son, Michael Martinez and wife, Frances; grandchildren, Raymond E. Wright Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Reina E. Wright, Erin and Ashley Aceves, Sadie Martinez, Christina Martines and husband, Vicente and Ruben G. Martinez; special companion, Sally Lopez and son, Orlando Gusman and wife, Roberta and children, Ashley and Jacklyn; great-grandchildren, Analycia, Elisa, Andres, and Mari Reya Wright and Selina and Isaiah Martines; sisters, Henrietta CdeBaca of Albuquerque, Lydia Baca of Albuquerque and Margaret Orozco from Ashfork, Arizona.
