Rosenblatt -- Beatrice (Bess) Rosenblatt nee Federman born on October 19, 1909 in Philadelphia, PA expired October 15, 2001, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is survived by three children; Elwood C. Rosenblatt, Jean L. Effron, both of Albuquerque and Stanley G. Rosenblatt of Niceville, FL; ten grandchildren, Anne B. Rosenblatt, Caitlin Rosenblatt, Michael P. Effron, Gail B. Effron, Howard G. Effron, Daniel L. Effron, Adam M. Effron, L. Oliver Shultz, Nicole M. Moore and Gabriel D. Rosenblatt; five great-grandchildren, Jason Raeder, Carl Effron, Ian Effron, Alex Shultz and Jack H. Shultz; and one great-great-grandchild, Nicole Raeder. Bess and her husband, David moved to New Mexico from New Jersey in 1971. She was a member of Temple Albert, active in Reevaluation Counseling, had many friends and acquaintances in various 12 step programs and The Course In Miracles. She medalled as a swimmer in the Senior Olympics; and she was a muse of the arts as an avid poet, sculptress and painter. Private disposition has taken place. Sheldon -- Isabel (Ortiz) Sheldon, born November 4, 1925. She was living in Denver, Colorado. She was born in Bristol Colorado. She is survived by children; Frances, Franklin, Delores, Estela, Natividad, Anthony and Maria; nieces and nephews; Mary Louise, Gabriele, Frances, Abraham, Maria, Lupita, Aggie, Jessy. Zimmerman -- John E. Zimmerman, 55, of Rio Rancho, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 13, 2001. John was born January 29, 1946 in Hammond, Indiana. He was a 1964 graduate of Boone Grove High School in Porter Twp, Indiana. He worked for Illinois Bell, Indiana Bell and A.T. & T. Information Systems for a total of 22 years. John was a part-time deputy sheriff for Lake County Indiana Sheriff's Department and later Porter County Sheriff's Department. He was hired as a full time Police Officer for the Porter County Sheriff's Police Department in 1988 and was a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1989. John helped coordinate the Governor's Task Force for Drunk Driving while employed with the Sheriff's Department. John was recruited by a Sandia National Laboratory contractor (P.D.S.) in 1996. John and his wife relocated to Rio Rancho, New Mexico in March of 1996. John was an employee of ReSpec, as a UNIX Systems Administrator for the Infrastructure Computing group. John was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, Albuquerque Lodge #1, the treasurer and a charter member of Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Association, New Mexico Chapter #VI, former member of Blue Knights New Mexico #1 and a member of the Rio Rancho Moose Lodge, #2447, Santa Fe Harley Owners Group, and Goldwing Road Riders Association. John served as the chapter educator of GWRRA New Mexico Chapter F and later the Senior District Educator for GWRRA in New Mexico. John was a Master Tour Rider of Goldwing Road Riders Association since 1994. John was also a member of the New Mexico Corvette Association. John was a life member of the National Rifle Association. He was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Ewalt Yahnz Lodge in Porter County, Indiana. John was a member of the Porter County Sheriff's Police Pistol Team and won several national medals and numerous state awards for police pistol combat shooting. He was also a former member of the Electrical Workers Local 336. He was a precinct committeeman, Morgan Township, for the Porter County Republican Party Twp. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Elsie Annen, and Albert and Ina Zimmerman and his father-in-law, Carl Eckhardt. John is survived by his loving wife, Carole of over 26 years, his parents, Frank and Lorraine Zimmerman of Hebron, Indiana, his mother-in-law, Trudy Eckhardt of Rio Rancho, sister, Mary Jo Noffinger and her husband, Harold of Valley, AL., son, John, of Naples, FL., brother-in-law, Gregory and his wife, Diane of Valparaiso, IN.; and nephews and nieces. John is also survived by many dear friends including his closest friends, Wayne and Pat Connolly. John will be sorely missed by his loving family and his many dear friends and co-workers. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2001 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church with The Rev. Sandra S. Bess and The Rev. Brian C. Taylor officiating. Interment will be at the Rose Garden in Vista Verde Memorial Park on Tuesday, October 23, 2001, 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the spouse toward a memorial and donations to charities of her choice would be appreciated.

Chavez -- Willie H. Chavez, 91, passed away October 18, 2001. He was a native of New Mexico and a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. Willie was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and was a loving brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He retired after having worked for 30 years as a Mimeographer and Stenographer Operator for the Army Corps of Engineers. Willie was preceded in death by his wife Tomasita Chavez in 1982, and his sister, Rosa Candelaria in 2001. He is survived by his nine children; Daniel Chavez and wife, Gloria of Albuquerque, Joann Chavez and husband, David of Albuquerque, Martin Chavez of Albuquerque, Evelyn Young of Las Vegas, NM, Robert Chavez of Albuquerque, Rudy Chavez and wife, Theresa of Las Vegas, NV., Angela Archuleta and husband, Richard of Albuquerque, Marcella Almodova and husband, Jerry of Albuquerque, Rosemary Maestas and husband, Roger of Las Vegas, NV.; sisters, Filomena Garcia and Celia Cordova, both of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins other family and friends who loved and will miss him. A memorial rosary will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr. SW. at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2001. A reception for family and friends will be held at Willie's home following the memorial service. All are welcome to attend the services and reception. De Wolf -- Victor De Wolf, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, died Wednesday, October 17, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Emily Orban DeWolf of the family home; son, Steve De Wolf; daughters, Krys Rojas of Ketchikan, AK and Veronica Burke of Michigan; Carol De Wolf, widow of son, Paul of Lansing, MI; and grandchildren, Carrie L. Hebert, Megan Burke, Nicholas Burke, Carol Rojas, and Samual Rojas. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul De Wolf; brothers, Joseph and George De Wolf; and parents, Camiel and Leone De Wolf. Victor was born in Detroit, MI, October 20, 1925, the third son of immigrant parents. He graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1944. Within a few weeks, after graduating, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps for the duration of WWII, and was assigned to the European Theatre, based in Italy. Victor flew thirty-six combat missions as a tail-gunner in a B-24 bomber. Victor earned the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) within one year. He was discharged in 1945, immediately after Victory over Europe was declared. He married his loving wife, Emily Orban on October 27, 1945. Victor was recruited by the City of Detroit, as a Peace Officer in 1947. While serving the City of Detroit, Victor retired after 26 years of service as a Detective Lieutenant. Immediately upon retirement, Victor was again recruited by the State of Michigan's Attorney Generals Office where he earned the position of Special Agent Supervisor in charge of the Organized Crime Division. In 1979, after a review of Victor's credentials, Victor was appointed by Governor Bruce King to fulfill the position of Supervisor for the State of New Mexico's Commission for Organized Crime, where he remained employed until 1983. He was again solicited by the Mayor of Albuquerque, Ken Schultz to serve as Veterans Liaison until he finally retired when the Mayor's term of office expired. Victor was a member of the Lion's Club for 30 years. He retired as Colonel in NM State Defense Force."Goodbye Daddy. We Love and Miss You." Services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2001, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Deacon Al McLane officiating. Ortiz -- Raymond D. Ortiz, 76, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 18, 2001. Raymond was born on February 6, 1925 in Willard, NM. While serving his country in WWII, he met his first wife, Fernanda Garonzi, who passed in 1949. He was a military policeman who escorted General Bradley. He married Catalina Bencomo and they raised six children together in Albuquerque. Raymond was a well respected businessman who ran the Paloma Bar for many years. He later established the Blue Ribbon Bar in Estancia, which he ran until his retirement in 1990. Raymond was the center of a huge and loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tomas Ortiz and Candalaria Valenzuela-Ortiz; his first wife, Fernanda Garonzi-Ortiz; his brother Dolores Ortiz; his sister, Juana Fernandez; his son, Tommy Ortiz; grandchildren, Martin and Catalina Placencio, and Godson Osvaldo"Butch" Garley. Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Catalina B. Ortiz; his children, Aurora Acosta and husband, Erasmo of Alb. Rito Placencio and wife, Angie of Alb. Ruben Placencio and wife, Marlene of Alb. Odelia Anna Ortiz of Escondido, CA Yolanda Ortiz-Sanchez of Alb. and Johnny Ray Ortiz of Alb. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Frances Garley, Delfino Ortiz, Manuel Ortiz, Dahlia Tapia, Alice Rivera, Mary Corona, Eddie Ortiz, Melva Garcia, Rito Ortiz, Mary Irene Garcia, and Ramona Floyd. He is survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Placencio, Pamela Owens, Sandie Griego, Tanya Placencio, Anthony Kotsios, Erasmo Acosta, Jr., Maria Acosta, Natalie Ortiz-Sanchez, and Ashley Ortiz-Darrow. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; 48 Godchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held Sunday, October 21, 2001 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Stover Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be held at St. Francis Xavier Parish at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening, October 21, 2001. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 22, 2001, also at St. Francis Xavier Parish, at 10:00 a.m. Christian Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Ortiz, Chris Sanchez, Michael Garley, Daniel Ortiz, Richard Darrow, and Lawrence Griego. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at NM Artificial Kidney Center. Fairhurst -- Huldah Mary (Street) Fairhurst died Monday morning, October 15, 2001 at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a short illness. Graveside services will be held at the Wall Cemetery in Wall, South Dakota, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2001. Huldah Mary Street was born on September 6, 1910, in Woodbury County, near Anthon, Iowa. Her parents were Joshua Frederick Street and Cora Ethel (Hitchcock) Street. She attended school in Wall and Rapid City, graduating high school in Rapid City. As an adult, she lived in Kadoka, SD; Rapid City, SD; Santa Fe, NM; Truth or Consequences, NM; and Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters, and an adopted son. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Margaret Carson of Tijeras, New Mexico; a grandson, Rodney Glenn Carson of Rapid City; and two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Marie and Emily Denise Carson, both of Rapid City. She changed the lives of everyone who knew her.

Gutierrez -- Mr. Michael R. Gutierrez died Wednesday in Albuquerque at the age of 49. Mr. Gutierrez was retired from the United States Marine Corp. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Gutierrez and Marsha Gutierrez; aunt and uncle who served as caregivers, Eloisa and Ignacio Nuanes, and their children, Dee Nuanes, Dorothy Cadena and husband, Hank, Jerry Nuanes and wife, Susan, Jean Salazar and husband, Sam, Joyce Tapia and husband, Vidal, Ron Nuanes and wife, Delphinia, Liz Nuanes, Georgianna Nuanes, Jimmy Baca and Teresa Ramos and husband, David. Mr. Gutierrez is also survived by his brothers, Richard Gutierrez, Leo Gutierrez, James Gutierrez and Alfred Gallegos; sisters, Loretta Gallegos, Norma Garcia, Sandra Gallegos and Karen Tapia; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Gutierrez will be held on Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Aragon, Jimmy Baca, Petro Ismael Baca, Francisco Carabajal, Manuel Carabajal, and Vidal Tapia. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack McCloud and Steve Baca.
