Montoya -- Max Montoya, 84, passed away March 25, 1998 at his home in Albuquerque. Born January 15, 1914 in Torreon, NM to Vicente and Pablita Chavez Montoya. He was retired from Santa Fe Railroad and Albuquerque Public Schools. Survived by daughters, Mary Armijo and husband, Pete, Rita Maes and husband, Charlie, both of Albuquerque, and Patricia Montoya Padilla and husband, Alfred of Dallas, TX; sisters, Oralia Trujillo of Albuquerque, Candelaria Alderete, and Katie Ninez, both of Torreon, NM; brothers, Santos, Bennie, Rudy and Frank, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Anthony and Ramona Armijo, Annette Jaramillo, Darlene Encinias, and Karen Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Natalie, Mark and Nicolas; many nieces and nephews; and very special brothers and sisters-in-law. Preceded in death by parents; spouse, Ramona; and three children, Polly, Dimas and Robert Immanual. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 28, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited Friday, March 27, 7:30 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary (1100 Coal Ave. SE.) Pallbearers will be Anthony Armijo, Lee James Chavez, Dominico Encinias, Marco Gonzalez, Steven Jaramillo, and Jeff Trujillo. Roholt -- Michael"Mike" Roholt, 13, a resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, March 21, 1998. He is survived by his parents, Steven and Sue Roholt of the family home; sister, Meredith Roholt; brother, Taylor Roholt; maternal grandparents, Dr. Robert Manderscheid and Mrs. Colleen Manderscheid; paternal grandparents, Gordon and Jane Roholt; aunts and uncles, Donna Manderscheid of Phoenix, AZ, Jane Hardy and husband, Jim of Tucson, AZ, Joan Manderscheid of Des Moines, IA, Diane Byriel and husband, Brian of Boone, IA, Michael Manderscheid and wife, Elizabeth of Grimes, IA, Judy Kjelstad and husband, Mick of Maple Grove, MN and Gary Roholt and wife, Deb, and Dave Roholt and wife, Karen, all of Eau Claire, WI; and numerous cousins. Mike loved snowboarding and skateboarding. He had a deep love for animals and volunteered at the Animal Humane Association. Mike played the saxaphone and enjoyed the Hummingbird Music Camp. He loved fishing with his Dad and Grandpa. Mike loved his youth group at Calvary Chapel, where he let Jesus Christ into his heart and found peace. Mike's life will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna Rd. NE, with Pastor Alan Brooks and Danny Schumann officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Bill Benge, Jack McCarthy, Ray Montgomery, Mike Potter, Chuck Crago and Gary Mahboub. Sanchez -- Johnny Sanchez, 80, a resident of Albuquerque died Friday, March 20, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Sara of the family home; sons, Frank Sanchez and wife, Cruzita of Albuquerque, Levi Sanchez and wife, Cathy, Steven Sanchez and wife, Dorothy, and Albert Sanchez and wife, Blanca, all of Albuquerque; Ernest Sanchez and wife, Josephine of Las Cruces, NM, Fred Sanchez and wife, Leonore of Bernalillo, and Edward Sanchez and wife, Catalina of San Diego, CA; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Fabriciana Atencio and husband, Fred of Albuquerque, Susie C. Sanchez of Magdalena, NM, and Sofie Jojola of Belen, NM; brothers-in-law, Emilio Medina and wife, Angie, Carlos Medina and wife, Aurora, Edward Medina and wife, Carlota, Johnny Medina and wife, Jodi, and Robert Medina and wife, Bertha; and sisters-in-law, Frances M. Gonzales and husband, Fernando, Julie Gallegos and husband, Jerry, Margaret Sanchez and Josephine Sanchez; a step-son, Daniel E. Allen and his former wife, Epifania Torres. Mr. Sanchez was preceded in death by his parents, B.E. and Rosa Sanchez; a sister, Leona Sanchez; and his brothers, Herman Sanchez, Eduardo Sanchez and Medardo Sanchez. He was born in Datil, NM. Mr. Sanchez was a veteran of WWII, having served in the US Army. He worked for the Albuquerque Public Schools, retiring as a supervisor after 35 years of service. Mr. Sanchez was a member of the Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Fr. James Moore, Celebrant. Gallegos -- Louise R. Gallegos, age 90, passed away on March 16, 1998 in Albuquerque. She was born on October 19, 1907 in La Jara, Colorado to Felis Rivera and Ramoncita Romero. Mrs. Gallegos is survived by her son, Eddie Gallegos and wife, Mary of Albuquerque; her grandchildren, Steven Gallegos and son, Tyler of Albuquerque, Lisa Gallegos-Geier, husband, Richard and daughter, Corina, formerly of Copenhagen Denmark, Frank Gallegos of Albuquerque, Venisa Gallegos-Gage and husband, Charlie of Colorado Springs, CO, and Anthony Gallegos of Manhattan Beach, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Frank Gallegos in 1993. Mrs. Gallegos had lived in the Albuquerque area since 1970, moving from La Jara, CO. She enjoyed knitting and playing the piano and organ. She attended school at the St. Angela Academy in Caroll, Iowa. Mrs. Gallegos was employed as a bank teller in La Jara, CO before retirement. Rosary was recited at the Chapel of Sandia Funeral Care on Wednesday, March 18, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernadette Catholic Church (1800 Martha NE) at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Fr. James Moore as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM.

Gutierrez -- Josephine Gutierrez, age 81, passed away on March 14, 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leandro and Felicitas Chavez; and one sister, Tillie C. Jaramillo. Mrs. Gutierrez is survived by a daughter, Mary Anthony Trujillo of Washington, DC; a son, Raymond R. Sanchez of Albuquerque; three brothers, Juan M. Chavez of Belen, Eloy Chavez of Nevada, and Arthur M. Chavez, also from Belen; three grandchildren, Genevive Sandoval, Raymond Sanchez, and Steven Sanchez; and four great-grandchildren, Jerry Sandoval, Ray Sanchez Jr., Nathan Sanchez, and Dystine Arananda. Funeral mass was held on Tuesday morning, March 17, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Tome. Burial followed in the Tome Cemetery. Ortiz -- Ivan Ortiz, 49, died last week in Albuquerque. He was born on January 12, 1949 in Gallup, NM to Orlando Ortiz and Eliza Silva Ortiz, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Patrick Steven Bowers; by his wife, Susan Boot-Meyerer Ortiz; and her children, Cory and Kysa; by his sister, Stella Tafoya and her husband, Andy Tafoya of Colorado Springs; his brothers, Orlando Ortiz and his wife, Inez, Joseph Ortiz and his wife, Lucille, all of Albuquerque, and Mark Ortiz and his wife, Janet of Denver; and nieces and nephews, Shannon, Justina, Joel, Danielle, Alexis, Orlando Jr., Joey, Crystal, Marcos, Pete, Kristen and Monica; and great-nephew, Andre. Ivan graduated from Del Norte High School in Albuquerque and served proudly in Vietnam as a United States Marine. He had served as director of the Housing Assistance Council in Albuquerque and had been employed by the Bernalillo County Housing Division. Ivan is also survived by hundreds of thousands of brothers and sisters at arms who shared the horror and pain of Vietnam and by hundreds and hundreds of friends and acquaintances for whom he had found housing, and who shared his love for music, sports, books and conversation. He continues his journey now in peace, a peace that seemed to elude him often in life. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming NE, with interment to follow at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Alarid, Ken Gattas, Tom Huffman, Gary Marin, Tim Padilla, Bob Porteneir, Don Vetter and Kenny Wright. Croney -- Harold Croney, 67, passed away March 16, 1998. He was born in Queens, New York. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Rio Rancho Elks Lodge #2500, and American Legion Post #13, and St. Clemente Parish. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Croney; sons, William Croney and wife, Sue, Steven Croney; a daughter, Barbara Verhonich and husband, Alan; grandchildren, Paige Verhonich, Kevin and Kyle Croney, Tyler Croney; a brother, John Croney; and numerous friends who will miss him. Services will be held at St. Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, with burial to follow Friday, March 20th, at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:00 noon.
