Basler -- Eva M. Basler, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002. She is survived by her sons, Donald J. Basler and wife, Cathi of Parker, CO and Timothy J. Basler and wife, Yoshimi of Roswell; daughter, Cynthia A. McMurtry of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Donald McMurtry, Zachary Basler, Ryan Basler, Sean Basler, Tracy Basler, Tony Basler and Mark Basler; great-grandchildren, Christoffer Basler, Carli Basler and Alexandria Basler; sister, Lorraine Green of Dubuque, IA; and niece, Pat Miranda of Amarillo, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Donald C. Basler. Mrs. Basler was a member of Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Mrs. Basler being buried next to her husband. The family would like to thank Sandia Hospice for all of their support, comfort and help, with a special thanks to Mirta Chavez and Linda Miller. Orlando -- Olimpiu Orlando"O", 67, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Belva Orlando of Albuquerque; daughters, Kim Ronquillo and husband, Rick of Albuquerque and Amy Orlando of Las Cruces; grandchildren, James and Elise Ronquillo; mother, Tillie Cornell of Orlando, FL; sister, Sylvia Olesh of Orlando, FL, brothers, Carl Orlando of Maryland and Donald Orlando of Oklahoma; and many other loving family and ballooning friends. Mr. Orlando served in the US Navy and Air Force for 21 years. He was an avid balloonist and was a great crew chief. He also loved to play golf. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed his friends. He was a Mr. Fix-it who made a friend in everyone he met. He will be deeply missed. Services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2002, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Allen Brooks officiating. Interment will take place Monday, May 20, 2002, 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Peralta -- Bernie Adam Peralta, 44, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 13, 2002. Bernie is survived by his mother, Josefita (Fita) Zamora; two daughters, Antoinette Lajeuenesse and Lynette Driggers and husband, Adrian; three grandchildren, Angelique, Andrew and Julian; one sister, Geraldine Valverde and husband, Vincent; two brothers, Donald Peralta and wife, Belinda, Gilbert Zamora and wife, Matilda; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; cousins and friends. Bernie was a member of the Catholic Church. A Visitation for Bernie will be Thursday evening and Friday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited both evenings at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 817 Arno SE with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Monsignor Joaquin Bazan. Pallbearers will be, Martin Peralta, Jerry Garcia, Stevie Lopez, Julian Maldonado, Eric Perealta and Phillip Gallegos. Wheeler -- James Patrick Wheeler, 48, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Mariann Wheeler; children, Laura Marie Wheeler, Jared James Wheeler and Noel John Schaefer; mother, Patricia Wheeler; siblings, Michael Wheeler, Mark Wheeler, Susan Wheeler, Jeanne Martinez and Sally Jensen; in-laws, Anthony and Mary Straquadine, Angela Rave, Joel Straquadine, Gary Straquadine, Anthony Straquadine, Jr. and Paul Straquadine; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers. Mr. Wheeler was preceded in death by his father, Donald Wheeler. He was employed by Bohannan Huston, Inc. as a professional land surveyor since 1985. Mr. Wheeler served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam era.
