VENTERS -- Ardeth Zelda Venters departed this world peacefully at The Garland House in Albuquerque, NM and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. She suffered from Alzheimer's disease for the past several years. A resident of Albuquerque, Ardeth was born August 6, 1922 in Lebanon, CO, to Myrtle (McCurry) and Roy Dickerson. She married Clifford Venters October 26, 1939 in Gallup NM. Ardeth's first jobs in Cortez were at the Ben Franklin Dime Store and the Moffitt Drug Store. During World War II, she was a switchboard operator for the Telephone Company in Cortez. She and Clifford lived in Colorado until they relocated to Albuquerque, NM, in 1962. Ardeth retired from Kirkland AFB where she was a Telephone Operator. They lived for a time in Los Lunas and Belen, NM. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and attended the Assemblies of God Church where ever she lived. The high point of her life was caring for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Venters; her sisters, Elnora Thompson and Alma McGechie; brother, LaVelle Sheppard; and her parents. She is survived by her sons, Darren and his wife, Paula, of Green Valley AZ, Cornell and his wife, Suzanna, of Lancaster, TX, Keith and his wife, Kathy, of Reno, NV; daughters, Nelda and son-in-law, Jerry Magnusson, of Knoxville, TN, and Lawanna Perez of Albuquerque NM. She had 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Ardeth will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Services will be held at Evangel Christian Center, (505-883-1300) 4501 Montgomery NE, Albuquerque, NM with Pastor Raymond Franks presiding on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow the Service at Sandia Memorial Gardens, 9500 San Pedro Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111. WOODHOUSE -- Charles Emmert Woodhouse passed away December 28, 2008. He was Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of New Mexico, and earlier was a professor at UC Riverside. Born in Rochester, New York, March 14, 1920, he was raised in Ohio and Wyoming. He served in the US Navy on aircraft carrier, the USS Bunker Hill, during WWII. Upon discharge, he attended University of Colorado and then UC Berkeley where he was awarded his doctorate in Sociology. He was polite and civil and sure of his academic convictions. He was a dedicated scholar and expected excellence from his students. Some welcomed his challenge and became scholars and professionals themselves. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Margaret. He is survived by his domestic partner, Carol Higgins; his son David Woodhouse and wife Gloria in San Diego; granddaughters Louella and Lillian, and great-granddaughter Sidney in San Diego; daughter Ann Marie in Belen, NM; daughter Kristen Schroeder and husband Michael in Kent, Washington; his sister, Betty French in Norman, Oklahoma; nephew Robert French and wife Barbara also in Norman, Oklahoma, niece Sarah French and her partner, Warren, in Pullman, Washington and her son Jacob Rhoads; his extended family of Carol's children and their spouses - Leah and Nat, Bruce and Bonnie, Mark and Tish, Paula and Jerry. Memorial Services will be scheduled at a later date. BOECK -- Edgar E. Boeck, 76, beloved, husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009. He was born March 7, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents Paul and May Boeck. He is survived by his wife Lois; sons, Dennis Boeck and wife Joyce and Rick A. Boeck; his daughter Cindy Moya and husband Steve; grandchildren Candice, Samantha, Jake, Adam, Tracy and Kelly. Edgar retired from Sandia Labs with 31 years of service, and was a proud Coast Guard Veteran of the Koren Conflict. BUSHNELL -- James Carr Bushnell April 16, 1934 - January 4, 2009 James Carr Bushnell died January 4, 2009, at home in Albuquerque in the loving arms of his wife of 52 years, Anne Johnson Bushnell. Jim was 74 years old, and is also survived by his son, Thomas Bushnell, BSG, of Los Angeles; his daughter, Marian Williams, her husband, J. Christopher Williams; grandchildren, Charles and John Williams, also of Los Angeles; brother, Robert Bushnell and sister, Judith Bushnell. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Bushnell, of Albuquerque. Jim grew up in Evanston, Illinois, son of Elmer Dole and Grace Luthardt Bushnell. He received the B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he met his lifelong love, Anne. He received the Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois, and then worked for over 30 years for Sandia National Laboratories as a physicist and engineer. An avid duplicate bridge player at the Duke City Bridge Club, Jim attained the rank of Gold Life Master in the past year. Jim was an Elder and active member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, where he was blessed by the loving presence of his pastor, the Rev. Trey Hammond. Jim will be missed by many friends and family, whose lives have been touched by his humor, intellect, patience, and the deep sense of peace and love he shared with us. A Memorial Service in his honor will be led by the Rev. Trey Hammond on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM. CARSON -- Michael Carson, age 86, was born on May 10, 1922, in New York, and passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2009, in Albuquerque surrounded by his three sons. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah and daughter Linda. Mike retired after 23 years from the New York Fire Department where he received numerous medals and commendations for his bravery and service. He was co-owner and partner of the Oak Tree Cafe restaurants for the past 24 years, working side by side with youngest son Rob until a few weeks prior to his death. Mike is survived by son Michael and wife Kathy; son Gary and wife Liz; son Robert, and his grandchildren. Mike enjoyed cooking and creating menus for the Oak Tree, cars, and dogs and cats, especially family pets Bella, a golden retriever, and cat Linda. Mike was loved by many friends and customers he met over the years while working at the Oak Tree restaurants. The Viewing will be on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary at 10500 Lomas NE. A Rosary will follow. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's on the Rio Grande Church, 5901 Saint Joseph's Pl. NW, at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009. DELGADO -- Maria Gloria Delgado, 79, beloved, wife, mother and grandmother a resident of Albuquerque since 1976 passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009. Gloria was born on August 17, 1929 in Durango, Durango, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son Francisco Javier Delgado. Gloria is survived by her husband of 60 years Francisco Delgado; sons, Jose and wife Olga, Jesus and wife Yolanda, Salvador and wife Martha, Mario and wife Graciela, Antonio and wife Carol, Miguel and wife Patricia, and Luis and wife Lucy; sisters, Lupe, Kathy, Irma, and Belen, brothers Jose Angel, and Juan Sierra; in addition to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and retired from Albuquerque Academy. Gloria took joy in gardening, cooking, traveling, singing, serving at her church, birds, and conversations with her sons. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway SE. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. ESPINOZA -- Nancy Espinoza, 62, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008. She was born in Chicago, IL and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in special education in 1968. Nancy spent 25 years as a special education teacher before retiring in May 2006. She taught in the Chicago area, Guam, California and for her last 21 years at Eisenhower Middle School in Albuquerque. She received her Masters Degree from UNM in 1998. She was a Crystal Apple recipient for her dedication to teaching special needs children. Nancy was an active member of John XXIII. She was at one time the Education Director at the parish, began the food SHARE program, and was on the Bereavement Committee and the Social Justice Committee. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of almost 40 years, David; children Amy and Mark; son-in-law Kerem Ar; granddaughters Kelsy and Lindsy Shapiro; expected great-grandson; parents Charles and Martha Campbell; brothers Thomas Campbell and Jon Campbell and wife Marsha; and was aunt and great-aunt to 25 nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 10, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at John XXIII Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge, NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
