BEAULIEU -- Carol Trask Beaulieu died peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2009, blanketed by the love of her friends and family. We will all remember her bright eyes, beaming smile, her open heart and embracing hugs. Born in Vallejo, California on August 22, 1944 to Lucille and Charles "Wes" Trask, most of Carol's youth was spent in Los Alamos. She graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1962 and later earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Business Administration at the University of New Mexico. In 1975, she returned home to Los Alamos where she raised her family and worked in Human Resources at Los Alamos National Laboratory, helping many individuals across the company before retiring in 2002, after 27 years at the Lab. She and her husband enjoyed their retirement years in Pagosa Springs, Colorado and Surprise, Arizona. Carol loved many things in life, among them traveling, quilting, eating New Mexican food, and listening (and sometimes dancing) to country music. But more than any of these, she loved her many friends and family members dearly. She cherished every moment spent with them, especially her grandchildren, Abby and Lily Bonzon and Maia Beaulieu, daughters, Katie DeVore and Amy DeVore Bonzon and her husband, Blake, and husband, Patrick Beaulieu and his daughter, Nicole Beaulieu. She is survived by the aforementioned as well as by her mother, her brother, Charlie Trask and his wife, Janet of Los Alamos and their children Chad Trask and Laura Johnstone and her husband, Steve and their children, Annie and Caroline. She is preceded in death by her father. At her request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 10, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at the United Church in Los Alamos. BOECK -- Edgar E. Boeck, 76, beloved, husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009. He was born March 7, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents Paul and May Boeck. He is survived by his wife Lois; sons, Dennis Boeck and wife Joyce and Rick A. Boeck; his daughter Cindy Moya and husband Steve; grandchildren Candice, Samantha, Jake, Adam, Tracy and Kelly. BOONE -- IRENE U. BOONE Longtime Pediatrician, Dr. Irene U. Boone, 86, died peacefully January 4, 2009 at her home. By her side were her husband Zenas "Slim" Boone and her beloved dog Jeffie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ann and George Uhrik; a brother, John Uhrik; and a sister, Ann Gonko. Dr. Boone was born October 13, 1922 in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Penn State in 1943 with a BS and went on to get her Masters in Microbiology and Biochemistry. In 1946, Dr. Boone was recruited to Los Alamos and worked as a section leader in Cellular Biology at the Health Research Division of Los Alamos National Lab. After a year at LANL, she started Medical School at George Washington University in Washington, DC. She returned each summer to work for LANL, and the second year of Med School married "Slim" Boone in Santa Fe, NM. She went on to graduate from George Washington University, with distinction, in 1951. Following an Internship at Salt Lake General Hospital, Dr. Boone returned to Los Alamos and her work at LANL as a staff member in Cellular Biology until 1965. Dr. Boone left LANL to complete a Residency in Pediatrics at Denver Children's and was a fellow in adolescent medicine at the University of Colorado. In 1967 Dr. Boone opened her Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine Practice in Los Alamos Medical Center. Fulfilling her love for teaching, Dr. Boone served on the faculty at University of New Mexico Medical School. She retired from Medicine in 1998. Dr. Boone enjoyed golfing and loved the time spent in their Taos cabin. She is survived by her husband, Slim Boone; her sister Julie Beck; nieces: Leslie Geer, Michael Beck, and Kathy Beck. Services will be held Friday, January 9, 2009, 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Los Alamos with burial to follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery. BUSHNELL -- James Carr Bushnell April 16, 1934 - January 4, 2009 James Carr Bushnell died January 4, 2009, at home in Albuquerque in the loving arms of his wife of 52 years, Anne Johnson Bushnell. Jim was 74 years old, and is also survived by his son, Thomas Bushnell, BSG, of Los Angeles; his daughter, Marian Williams, her husband, J. Christopher Williams; grandchildren, Charles and John Williams, also of Los Angeles; brother, Robert Bushnell and sister, Judith Bushnell. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Bushnell, of Albuquerque. Jim grew up in Evanston, Illinois, son of Elmer Dole and Grace Luthardt Bushnell. He received the B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he met his lifelong love, Anne. He received the Ph.D. in physics from the University of Illinois, and then worked for over 30 years for Sandia National Laboratories as a physicist and engineer. An avid duplicate bridge player at the Duke City Bridge Club, Jim attained the rank of Gold Life Master in the past year. Jim was an Elder and active member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, where he was blessed by the loving presence of his pastor, the Rev. Trey Hammond. Jim will be missed by many friends and family, whose lives have been touched by his humor, intellect, patience, and the deep sense of peace and love he shared with us. A Memorial Service in his honor will be led by the Rev. Trey Hammond on Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM. CARSON -- Michael Carson, age 86, was born on May 10, 1922, in New York, and passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2009, in Albuquerque surrounded by his three sons. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah and daughter Linda. Mike retired after 23 years from the New York Fire Department where he received numerous medals and commendations for his bravery and service. He was co-owner and partner of the Oak Tree Cafe restaurants for the past 24 years, working side by side with youngest son Rob until a few weeks prior to his death. Mike is survived by son Michael and wife Kathy; son Gary and wife Liz; son Robert, and his grandchildren. Mike enjoyed cooking and creating menus for the Oak Tree, cars, and dogs and cats, especially family pets Bella, a golden retriever, and cat Linda. Mike was loved by many friends and customers he met over the years while working at the Oak Tree restaurants. The Viewing will be on Thursday, January 8, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary at 10500 Lomas NE. A Rosary will follow. DELGADO -- Maria Gloria Delgado, 79, beloved, wife, mother and grandmother a resident of Albuquerque since 1976 passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009. Gloria was born on August 17, 1929 in Durango, Durango, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son Francisco Javier Delgado. Gloria is survived by her husband of 60 years Francisco Delgado; sons, Jose and wife Olga, Jesus and wife Yolanda, Salvador and wife Martha, Mario and wife Graciela, Antonio and wife Carol, Miguel and wife Patricia, and Luis and wife Lucy; sisters, Lupe, Kathy, Irma, and Belen, brothers Jose Angel, and Juan Sierra; in addition to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and retired from Albuquerque Academy. ESPINOZA -- Nancy Espinoza, 62, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008. She was born in Chicago, IL and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in special education in 1968. Nancy spent 25 years as a special education teacher before retiring in May 2006. She taught in the Chicago area, Guam, California and for her last 21 years at Eisenhower Middle School in Albuquerque. She received her Masters Degree from UNM in 1998. She was a Crystal Apple recipient for her dedication to teaching special needs children. Nancy was an active member of John XXIII. She was at one time the Education Director at the parish, began the food SHARE program, and was on the Bereavement Committee and the Social Justice Committee. Nancy is survived by her loving husband of almost 40 years, David; children Amy and Mark; son-in-law Kerem Ar; granddaughters Kelsy and Lindsy Shapiro; expected great-grandson; parents Charles and Martha Campbell; brothers Thomas Campbell and Jon Campbell and wife Marsha; and was aunt and great-aunt to 25 nieces and nephews. FINCHER -- Scott Fincher, 39, passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2008. Born in Albuquerque, NM he lived most of his life there, as well as Arizona and California. Scott was a local 611 union member. He enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing and playing guitar. He loved Motocross, RC racing and all things sports. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Christie Fincher; mother Jan Fincher; father Doyle Fincher (Tauny); sister Sarah Rhoades (Mike); brother James Lucher; two nephews Jordan and Jayce Rhoades; his cat of 17 years, Nitro; as well as many family and friends that miss him greatly. GOMEZ -- Martha Elizabeth Gomez, 81, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died on January 3, 2009 after a brief but courageous fight. Martha is survived by her three children, Steve Gomez and wife, Mary Ann, of 29 years before her death, of Carnuel, NM, Linda Swan and husband, Bob, of Richfield, OH and Michael Gomez and wife, Susan, of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Francessca Mora and husband, Ray, Alicia Sanasac and husband, Zach, Raquel Casaus and Jesse Gomez, all of Albuquerque, NM. Martha dearly loved and received great joy from her three great-grandsons, Julian Michael Mora (Bubba) age 13, Jaden Ray Mora (Shorty) and Andres Miguel Casaus (Boo). Both Shorty and Boo are ten. Martha is also survived by her sisters, Helen Sacco and husband, Santy, of Albuquerque and sister, June Garcia, and husband, Ray, of Gallup, NM in addition to many loving family members. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Kie; and brother, Thomas Creager both from Laguna Pueblo. GONZALES -- Meliton M. Gonzales, 86, a resident of Albuquerque, passed on Sunday, January 4, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anna Agnes Gonzales; two sisters, Angela Lawrence of Los Lunas and Zella Alderete of Socorro; nieces and nephews, Tony Gonzales and wife, Margaret of Indio, CA, Rey Perkins and wife, Trish of Arlington, TX, Jeanie Dean and husband, Herman of Tijeras Canyon, NM, Cindy Easley of Yelman, WA, Robert Lawrence of Albuquerque, Lorella Chavez and husband, Bill of Lemitar, Rocco Alderete of Arlington, TX, Mela Straley and husband, Dale of Socorro, Joel Alderete of Los Chavez, and Joella Livesey and husband, Drew of Portland, OR, Pauline J. Garcia of Albuquerque, Margaret Ann Garcia of Albuquerque, Anthony and wife, Lisa Garcia of Santa Monica, CA, Leta Mae and husband, Bill Bishell of California, Anthony Chavez of Phoenix, AZ, Michael and wife, Premie Chavez of Albuquerque, and Sara Hammond of Albuquerque; and many other great-nieces and great-nephews. Meliton was a great blessing to all he touched and a very special uncle who played an extremely important part in the lives of his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Captain Reynaldo Gonzalez, killed during the Bataan Death March, and Private Jose Antonio Gonzales (Tony), killed during the Invasion of Normandy; sister, Mela Perkins; and nephew, Evans Albert Garcia. Meliton was born on February 16, 1922 in Lemitar, to Antonio E. and Rufina V. Gonzales. He attended elementary school in Lemitar and graduated from Socorro High School. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed first in Africa, then in the South Pacific. While in the South Pacific, notification of the death of his brother, Tony Gonzales, arrived and after the request of his parents to the War Department was granted, he returned home; the only surviving son. Meliton received both his Bachelor and Master degrees from the University of New Mexico. He was a teacher who touched many young lives at APS for over 30 years, retiring as Vice Principal of Valley High School. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, January 7, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to Rosary. GONZALES -- Sinforosa J. Gonzales, a longtime resident of Tijeras, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in Rio Rancho, NM. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andalecio Gonzales; and parents, Felix and Bernadita Jaramillo. She is survived by two sons, Andalecio J. Gonzales and wife, Annie, and James Gonzales; four grandchildren, Stacy, Rachel, Sammy, and Stephanie; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Angie Webster; and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved her and will miss her. HOWARTH -- Andrew "Sarge" Francis Howarth, 89, died peacefully Monday, January 5, 2009. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret; children, Karen, Kristine, Andrew and his wife Sheryl; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Andrew was born on September 27, 1919 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps/U.S. Air Force for 30 years, achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal on three occasions. After retiring in Albuquerque, "Sarge" enjoyed countless hours with his good friends on the golf course. He will be greatly missed and always admired by those who knew him and loved him. HUGHS -- Juanita Blea Estrada Hughs was born March 17, 1913 to Celso and Cipriana (Nieto) Blea at Tremintina, NM. She peacefully passed away January 5, 2009 at Garden City, KS. She lived in New Mexico, Louisiana, and Kansas. Mother married Juan B. Estrada on August 30, 1928. To this union were born four sons and seven daughters. She had five daughters and one son from dad's first marriage. Dad passed way April 20, 1976 leaving her very lonely. She married John Hughs on January 15, 1979 he passed away December 10, 1991. She was a homemaker, doing lots of canning and making quilts for her family. She was a member of the Mennonite Church, Transylvania, LA. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 9, 2009. Burial at Mennonite Church Cemetery, three miles North of Tucumcari on Hwy 104. Sumner, NM, Anita and Jesse Loucks of Detroit, TX, Louella and Paul Loucks, Garden City, KS; and three sons Amadeo and Sylvia Estrada of Garden City, KS, Paul and Liz Estrada, and Daniel Estrada, all of Tucumcari, NM. Three step-daughters Carlota Trujillo of Logan, NM, Carrie Pacheco of Albuquerque, NM, and Beatrice Ensz, of Louisville, GA; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings; both husbands; one son; three step-daughters; one step-son; three step-sons-in-law; four great-grandchildren.

JEFFERSON -- Donald (Don) Lee Jefferson, age 76, died January 3, 2009, at the University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque, following a brief illness. Mr. Jefferson was born on April 8, 1932, to Elda Pearl and George Harrison Jefferson in Stillwell, OK. His grandparents were part of the generation that made the original Oklahoma Land Run in 1889. He graduated from Stillwell High School in 1948, and joined the United States Army in 1949. Mr. Jefferson served in both the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Campaign during his 30-year military career. In honor of his service and sacrifice to country, he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, along with numerous meritorious honors and medals. Mr. Jefferson married Gertrud Ilse Flaig of Kirchberg an der Jagst, Germany, in 1953. Together, they shared a military life and moved with the Army to Texas, Louisiana, France, Washington, West Virginia, Germany and finally, Colorado. He and Ilse had five children together. He was actively involved with the military protestant church community, often serving as a deacon, or teaching Sunday school, or leading adult Bible education classes wherever he was stationed. While in the Army, Mr. Jefferson sought to continue his education, receiving both his bachelor of art in history and master of art in psychology from the University of Maryland. His final tour of duty was at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, CO. Following his retirement from the Army in 1979, he began to work for the State of Wyoming in the Department of Corrections where he worked as a prison psychologist and then managed the work farm. He then moved to Espanola, N.M., where he worked for the State of New Mexico in the State Health Department, and then left civil service to work as a hotel manager. In 1993, he moved to Gallup, N.M., where he managed the Ramada Inn up until his death. Mr. Jefferson enjoyed country music, old western TV shows and movies. He was always quick with a smile and a corny joke, and cared deeply for those around him, especially his employees at the Ramada Inn who became his second family. He had a special place in his heart for animals. He was loved by all, had not an enemy in the world, and lived his life with abundant joy. Mr. Jefferson is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Neil Jefferson; his grandson, Jack Jefferson; and his son-in-law Ron Gray. He is survived by his wife, Ilse, of Fort Collins, CO; his sons, Ron and wife Mary Jo of Valdostia, GA, and John and wife Dena of Colorado Springs, CO; his daughters, Rita Clark and husband Gary of Fort Collins, CO; Yvonne Gray-Garcia and husband Tony of Heidelberg, Germany, and Carol Borchert and husband Kevin also of Fort Collins. He was most proud of his grandchildren, Mickey and Rachel Jefferson, Michael and Lauren Clark, Christopher and Erin Gray, Grant Garcia, Alex and Anna Borchert, and Reese Jefferson. He also is survived by sister Opha Pearl Jefferson of Kansas City, MO; his nieces Karen, Deborah, Edith and Bob, and his long-time companion, Geneva Parsons. His three cats, Bubba, Savannah, and Samantha will miss him greatly. KERR -- Jack Loren Kerr, 86, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 and one-half years, Rita Kerr; daughters Janyce Preston and husband Rich of Albuquerque, Marsha Anderson and husband Don Anderson of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Douglas Preston of McMinnville, OR, Ethan Preston and wife Jennifer of Chicago, IL, Benjamin Preston of Webster, TX, Rebekah Preston of Albuquerque, Heidi Helgeson and husband Chad of San Antonio, TX, and Andrew Anderson and wife Julie of Euless, TX; great-grandchildren Kole Preston of McMinnville, OR, and John Kerr Helgeson, of San Antonio, TX; brother Vernon "Hank" Kerr and wife Barbara of Albuquerque; sisters Patricia Anderson of Albuquerque, Marilyn DeWitt and husband John, of Kirkland, NM, Shirley Phillips and husband Bill of Oregon, and Carol Bellor and husband Robert of Albuquerque; and brother-in-law Melvin Waite of Albuquerque. Mr. Kerr served in the Army Air Corp during WW II and was one of the first Flight Officers. Later, he shared his experiences with the Non-Commissioned Officers' Academy at Kirtland AFB. He worked as the Maintenance Supervisor at Manzano Base and Kirtland AFB Hospital. Jack was an avid fisherman and owned a cabin at El Vado, NM where he taught his grandchildren to fish. He was also a Cub Scout Leader. Cremation has taken place and mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Aquinas Newman Center, 1815 Las Lomas NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106. MORRIS -- Christopher L. "Chris" Morris, 32, born September 3, 1976, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 after a long fought battle with cancer. PADILLA -- Nora Padilla, born January 29, 1915, passed away at age 93 on January 6, 2009 surrounded by her loving family at home. She was the wife of the late Alfonso L. Padilla and a former resident of Santa Rosa, NM where she lived for 81 years prior to her move to Albuquerque. Nora was born in Juan De Dios, NM to the late Victoriano and Lucinda Fajardo. She was preceded in death by her brothers Victoriano, Jose, Doroteo and sister Celina Fajardo; sons baby Hilario, Daniel, Gilbert and Reynaldo (Rayne) Padilla. She is survived by a sister Dolores and her husband John Solano; sons Floyd Padilla and wife Helen, Orlando Padilla, Victor Padilla and wife Margaret, Larry Padilla and wife Barbara; daughters Flora and her husband Raul Garcia, Agneda Casaus with whom she resided, Vera and her husband David Estrada, Marie and her husband Joe Villanueva, Judy and her husband Robert Myklak; daughters-in-law Cecilia Padilla and Linda Padilla. Also surviving are 38 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. Nora was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. She was a grand homemaker whose joy in life was cooking for her family and friends, spending time with her children and taking care of her beautiful flowers that adorned her home. She was a devout Catholic, a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Albuquerque, The Women's Guild, The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Ct Santa Rosa de Lima in Santa Rosa and a member of El Sagrado Corazon. RAEL -- Jose Manuel Rael, age 65, passed away in Albuquerque, NM on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Jose Manuel was born September 29, 1943 in Clayton, NM. Jose proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam conflict. Jose continued throughout his life to assist his fellow veterans in any way that he could. RAMBES -- Emilio L. Rambes, 84, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Emilio is preceded in death by his beloved wife Clara; his sons Lawrence "Larry" A. Rambes and wife Mary Ann Rambes and Richard M. Rambes; brothers Lawerence, Max and sisters Mary, Tocha and Antonia. RYAN -- Thomas J. Ryan, age 78, a resident of Albuquerque, NM and The Woodlands, TX, passed away Friday, January 2, 2009. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa and moved to Albuquerque in 1954 after serving two years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended Loras Academy, Loras College and Bayless Business College in Dubuque before going to work for the Dubuque Thrift Plan as Assistant Manager. He was employed by the Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union in Albuquerque as Assistant Manager from 1954 to 1958 and by First Financial Credit Union (formerly Albuquerque Bell Federal Credit Union) and Credit Union Services, their subsidiary, as President, from 1958 to 1990 when he retired. During his credit union years, he served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Federal Credit Unions for 12 years. Serving as Chairman of numerous committees and receiving their Legislative award in 1976 and Professional of the year award in 1981. He also served on the Board of Directors of the NM Credit Union League for three years receiving their Outstanding Credit Union Leader Award and the Chairman's Club Award from the Credit Union Executives Society. As President of First Financial Credit Union his accomplishments were numerous and still evident in New Mexico credit unions today. He devised an open end loan process that many credit unions still use which was promoted by the NM Credit Union League. He was Instrumental in the construction of the Credit Union's Headquarters building at 601 Tijeras, N.W., Albuquerque, NM. Services were expanded to include checking accounts, certificates of deposits safe deposit boxes, credit cards and ATMs. He trademarked the ATM "CU Anytime" logo so all credit unions in New Mexico could utilize and join a common network. He incorporated the first credit union services corporation in New Mexico so member services could be expanded even to include the sale of securities, mutual funds and insurance products. He was preceded in death by his father Dr. Emmitt Ryan; mother Jennie Ryan of Dubuque, Iowa and brother David Ryan of San Angelo, TX. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Ryan; son Stephen Ryan of Albuquerque; daughter Linda Parks and husband Scott of The Woodlands, TX; son James Ryan and wife Deborah of Rio Rancho, NM; son William Ryan and wife Chris of Matthews, NC; daughter Judy Apel and husband Francis of Stoughton, WI; and daughter Jennifer Spear and husband Dean of Rio Rancho, NM; brother Roger Ryan and his wife Marian of Cerritos, CA; sister Virginia "Ditzy" Bakewell of Gilbert, AZ; sister-in-law Mary Alyce of San Angelo, TX; sister Marilyn Zurek of Omaha, NE; sister Geri Ryan of Dubuque, IA and sister Marjorie Shaver of Battle Creek, MI. SANICH -- Frank N. Sanich, 74, died January 1, 2009. He is survived by his brother, Charles Sanich and wife, Carolyn; sister, Carol Welborn and husband, Lester; brother, Robert Sudar and wife, Geri; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn in 1997. Mr. Sanich retired from the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. He was a faithful member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Frank was an avid and dedicated Lobo Booster fan. He enjoyed traveling and was able to see Alaska, Russia, Australia, as well as many other places. SWANSON -- Alvis A. B. Swanson, 88, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on January 3, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque. Mr. Swanson was born on April 19, 1920 to Arthur and Bessie (Holley) Swanson of Pontotoc, MS. Mr. Swanson served our country in the U.S. Army from November 1941 until his Honorable Discharge in September of 1945. In the Army he began his career in the 99th Chemical Mortar Battalion. He was also a truck driver specialist and rifle sharp shooter. During his military career, Mr. Swanson earned the EAME Service Ribbon, three Bronze Service Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and a Distinguished Unit Badge. He married his sweetheart, Flora McGee, on December 25, 1945. This past Christmas, they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. They had three children, A.B. Swanson, Gloria Ann Swanson, and Ted Wayne Swanson. Mr. Swanson was a farmer and truck driver and his sons maintain the ranch today. He was an avid hunter. Above all, he developed a close and personal relationship with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He was an active member of the Avalon Church of Christ. Mr. Swanson is preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Swanson, in 1969. He is survived by his wife, Flora Swanson, of Albuquerque, NM; sons, A.B. Swanson and Ted Wayne Swanson, both of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren. VENTERS -- Ardeth Zelda Venters departed this world peacefully at The Garland House in Albuquerque, NM and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. She suffered from Alzheimer's disease for the past several years. A resident of Albuquerque, Ardeth was born August 6, 1922 in Lebanon, CO, to Myrtle (McCurry) and Roy Dickerson. She married Clifford Venters October 26, 1939 in Gallup NM. Ardeth's first jobs in Cortez were at the Ben Franklin Dime Store and the Moffitt Drug Store. During World War II, she was a switchboard operator for the Telephone Company in Cortez. She and Clifford lived in Colorado until they relocated to Albuquerque, NM, in 1962. Ardeth retired from Kirkland AFB where she was a Telephone Operator. They lived for a time in Los Lunas and Belen, NM. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and attended the Assemblies of God Church where ever she lived. The high point of her life was caring for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Venters; her sisters, Elnora Thompson and Alma McGechie; brother, LaVelle Sheppard; and her parents. She is survived by her sons, Darren and his wife, Paula, of Green Valley AZ, Cornell and his wife, Suzanna, of Lancaster, TX, Keith and his wife, Kathy, of Reno, NV; daughters, Nelda and son-in-law, Jerry Magnusson, of Knoxville, TN, and Lawanna Perez of Albuquerque NM. She had 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Ardeth will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. Services will be held at Evangel Christian Center, (505-883-1300) 4501 Montgomery NE, Albuquerque, NM with Pastor Raymond Franks presiding on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow the Service at Sandia Memorial Gardens, 9500 San Pedro Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111. WHALEN -- Sunee Whalen, 65, long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009. Sunee was born in Bangkok, Thailand on May 5, 1943 and moved to the United States in her early twenties. She is survived by her husband of 28 years Robert; daughter, Irene F. Berry; five sisters and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. A memorial service will be held at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2009.
