BOYD -- Bobby Joe Boyd left this earth shortly before sunrise on December 11, 2009. He was at home surrounded by his family in Albuquerque, NM which had been his residence for many, many years. He was born in Pampa, Texas, October 29, 1937 to the proud parents of Jack and Marie Boyd. He attended school in Kellerville, Texas until the 10th grade when the school consolidated with McLean High School where he met his future bride. He was active in all sports and voted Best Lineman for the McLean Tigers in 1955. He joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation on May 18, 1956. He followed his brothers Earl and Charles into the service and his parents were very proud to have three sons serving in honor of our country. Bob is survived by his wife JoAnn Turner Boyd. On December 14, they would have celebrated their 53rd anniversary. He is also survived by his daughter, Becky Jo Fincher of Phoenix, Arizona; and his son Larry Dean Boyd of Ettrick, Wisconsin; brother Charles Boyd of Amarillo, Texas; and his mother Marie Boyd of Pampa, Texas. Bob and JoAnn were blessed with two sons and one daughter. He was predeceased by his first son Ricky Dale Boyd on February 5, 2008. Cancer is so cruel and takes fathers and sons with no regard! Nine beautiful grandchildren will miss Grandad as well as a beautiful great-grandson with eyes that rival heaven's blue. He left us all with joy and the love of so many wonderful friends. There are two precious Dachshunds, Beau and Jesse, that will listen for his footsteps for a long time to come. Bob loved his doctors that were on this journey with him from the beginning until the end. Dr. Gallant, Dr. Liss and his Dr. Kaplan. His respect and admiration for all other doctors, nurses and supportive staff that work everyday to care for people was simply enormous. Riverside Funeral Home handled all arrangements for Bob as graciously as they did for his son, Rick. Sunday, December 13, 2009 we gathered for a memorial for him just as he wanted. Good food, laughter and memories shared with family and friends together. No place on earth is more glorious than New Mexico in the fall, but the days grew short when we reached September, and the last few precious days are memories forever. Written with love by JoAnn Boyd between the hours of 5:00-8:00 a.m. on December 15, 2009.
